User talk:The Jacketed Terrapin/List of Chronicle universes

From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki

I'm Surprised this isn't part of the official minor universe page. I guess these series have so little in Smash (AKA having no Music, Trophies or Stickers) That they aren't seen worth it to be added. Just nothing more then text on the screen. Kinda sad to find out Endless Ocean IS in Smash Bros. but only as this. 70.189.103.172 03:46, September 24, 2024 (EDT)

List of absent universes[edit]

I have made a list of absent series taken from the "List of Nintendo Products" Wikipedia articles. Dunno if this should be added to the article or not, or be its own self-article, and how much detail it should go into for each series, but it's a fun creative exercise, and funny to imagine that a lot of these series are technically part of the Smash multiverse, do what you will with it. I've put it in hidden text so it doesn't clog up the talk page. --What could possibly go wrong? - BubzieBobkat (talk) 09:29, November 25, 2024 (EST)

I actually already have a separate userpage that compiles the missing universes with Nintendo-published installments. Not everything you listed here is on that page, though, and I even made a blacklist explaining why I haven't included them on the main list. In short, I just didn't want the main page to be too large and feel overly semantic, so I had to make a lot of sacrifices.
Also, in case you're wondering where Arm Wrestling, DS Bitamin Widaehan Babsang Malhaneun!, and Zootoo Mahjong! are on either linked page, I consider those games installments of already represented universes (Punch-Out!, Personal Trainer: Cooking, and Yakuman), so I didn't see a reason to give them their own entries.
Oh, and one more thing: Knight Move is already on this page. :P JacketTerraSig1.pngThe Jacketed TerrapinJacketTerraSig2.png 12:20, November 25, 2024 (EST)
Ah, that's super cool! I'm big into the obscure semantics, but I also understand why they're not welcome to others, but hey, that's what userspace is for, haha. --What could possibly go wrong? - BubzieBobkat (talk) 13:21, November 25, 2024 (EST)

(Reset indent) Super late reply, but you may have noticed that many of the universes on your hidden list are neither on my "unrepresented universes" page or its "excluded IPs" sub-page.

I have tried my best to include those universes on the latter page, but I found it was getting too cluttered and some games have a rather complicated history on how Nintendo was involved in publishing/distributing them, so I decided against adding them. As compensation, I have added this section that compiles different categories of games, but doesn't list off any specific games except for those only used as examples.

With that said, I have decided to make a list of the universes that weren't able to be mentioned on the "excluded IPs" sub-page, using your own list as a basis. Do note the info provided is derived from Wikipedia's "List of Nintendo products" page, so there might be some inaccurate info (also, don't be surprised if this list blows up the byte size of this talk page, though I did make it collapsible for reader convenience):

Universe Nintendo-published installment(s): Reason(s) for exclusion:
Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS, 2006)ᴾᴬᴸ
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All (Nintendo DS, 2007)ᴾᴬᴸ
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS, 2008)ᴾᴬᴸ
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (Nintendo DS, 2008)ᴾᴬᴸ
All of these games were only distributed by Nintendo instead of them directly publishing those games.
AeroGauge AeroGauge (Nintendo 64, 1998)ᴬᵁ Only distributed by Nintendo instead of them directly publishing the game.
Air Boarder 64 Air Boarder 64 (Nintendo 64, 1998)ᴬᵁ Only distributed by Nintendo instead of them directly publishing the game.
Disney's Aladdin Disney's Aladdin (Game Boy, 1998)ᴾᴬᴸ
Disney's Aladdin (SNES, 1998)ᴾᴬᴸ
This one is weird.
The Game Boy game was only published by Nintendo in Australia, yet was also only distributed by Nintendo in PAL regions (whether this includes Australia or not, I have no idea) only via its re-release under the "Disney's Classic" label.
The SNES game, on the other hand, was published by Nintendo in PAL regions, but only via the "Disney's Classic" label re-release.
Weird history aside, Virgin Interactive was the original publisher of the Game Boy game, whereas Capcom was the original publisher of the SNES game.
The Battle of Olympus The Battle of Olympus (NES, 1991)ᴾᴬᴸ Published by Broderbund in North America.
Battle Arena Toshinden Battle Arena Toshinden (Game Boy, 1996)ᴺᴬ Published by Laguna in PAL regions.
Battle Shark Battle Shark (Arcade, 1977) Debatable if this really counts as an actual "video" game as it used film instead of video.
Battletoads Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team (NES, 1993)ᴾᴬᴸ
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (SNES, 1993)ᴾᴬᴸ
Battletoads in Ragnarok's World (Game Boy, 1993)ᴾᴬᴸ

The Chessmaster (Game Boy, 1992)ᴾᴬᴸ
Both of these games were published by Hi Tech Expressions in North America.
Crazy Kong Crazy Kong (Arcade, 1981)
Crazy Kong Part II (Arcade, 1981)
Both of these games were only licensed by Nintendo.
Since these games are essentially just the arcade Donkey Kong game under a different title and with a few minor changes, I'm not sure if this should even be counted as a separate universe.
Cutie Q Cutie Q (Arcade, 1979) This game is actually an installment Namco's Gee Bee series (which is already listed on my "unrepresented universes" page), so I didn't see any reason to give it its own section.
I also can't find any definitive proof that the game was actually published by Nintendo.
Dance Aerobics Dance Aerobics (NES, 1989)ᴺᴬ While this game was originally listed on the "excluded IPs" sub-page, I have since discovered it is actually an installment of Bandai's Family Trainer series (which is technically represented via World Class Track Meet/Stadium Events being listed in the Chronicle mode in Brawl), so I have removed it from the sub-page.
Dead Line Dead Line (Arcade, 1977) Debatable if this really counts as an actual "video" game as it used film instead of video.

EVR Race EVR Race (Arcade, 1975) Debatable if this really counts as an actual "video" game as it used film instead of video.
Fascination Fascination (Arcade, 1974) Debatable if this really counts as an actual "video" game as it used film instead of video.
Further research also states that this game may not have been given a wide release to the public.
Fury of the Furries Pac-In-Time (Game Boy, 1995)ᴾᴬᴸ Published by Namco in North America.
Since the only Nintendo-published installment was reskinned into a Pac-Man game (a series already represented in Smash), I don't think it really makes sense to give it its own section.
