Character Art
Originally, when I had added a picture of Sonic before, it was just of his original character art. But I was told that along the lines that it was not necessary unless it was related to Smash and if the art differed. Like Little Mac for example (of which I was not the one who added it): His  most recent appearance is of Punch Out for the Wii (Sonic is Sonic Forces), while in the character description contains art for his original appearance in Punch Out for NES (Sonic was the original Sonic the Hedgehog). Their current appearance, although similar, is noticeably different to their original. (Plus, Knuckles has it the same as well) Although I can make similar to Knuckles by adding a screenshot of Sonic within his original game. (I thought the last one I added was). Wolff (talk) 02:13, 26 October 2018 (EDT)
:For reference, the NES Punch-Out picture on Little Mac's page is because that game was the basis of his Brawl design as an Assist Trophy. It isn't just "character gets older art for the heck of it". ::I thought the character descriptions were suppose to have their origin appearance if it differed noticeably in some way (if not character art, then in game screenshot/sprite/model) such as Knuckles in Sonic's case? Next time, at least in the case for Ryu and Sonic, I'll upload a picture in the discussion to see if others agree if it should be added or not. Thank you <font color="dodgerblue"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Miles <font color="silver">(<font color="silver">talk)</font></font></span></font> for taking the time to explain this to me. But I don't know how to do these templates used. I am not that skilled in editing so when I created the page, I had no idea what to do so I copied and pasted it. Also I did not know anything about lags too. Xerneasthebest (talk) 12:36, 22 January 2019 (EST)Xerneasthebest
:Not Nokii, but you should first make a separate section for you talk post, as it doesn't match with what's being said above. Second, a good advice from me (who doesn't know much HTML either) is to look and see how the templates work. You can always mess around with it in the Sandbox. SugarCookie420 (talk) 12:56, 22 January 2019 (EST)
:Firstly, when responding to someone over a discussion, keep it contained to the page in question (your talk page, in this instance) and nowhere else. Expanding to multiple talk pages only makes the conversation harder to follow. I recommend you read more about our talk page guidelines.
:Secondly, copying a template from another page to use as a reference is OK. Copying an entire page and making minimal changes to it isn't. As SugarCookie already said, if you want to learn how to use templates, use the sandbox, and especially use the preview button so you won't have to make hundreds of small edits if you do something incorrectly. ==Uploading images==
Just asking, do you know there's an option to upload a new version of a picture without having to delete it? It's so people don't have to constantly upload a new photo then delete the old one, but change the old photo into the new photo. <span style="font-family:Times New Roman"><span style="color: red;">SugarCookie</span></span> <span style="font-family:Impact"><span style="color: green;">420</span></span> 19:24, 2 March 2019 (EST)

::The image in question was of a different filetype, in this case .jpg, and as far as I'm aware it's impossible to directly replace a .jpg with a .png file, for instance. Hence I had to upload it separately. #89d —  19:40, 2 March 2019 (EST)

::::For me, I just convert it from jpeg to png online, and vice-versa. This may help in the future. <span style="font-family:Times New Roman"><span style="color: red;">SugarCookie</span></span> <span style="font-family:Impact"><span style="color: green;">420</span></span> 18:58, 6 March 2019 (EST)
:::::In the context of the old version of this image, converting the new version from .png to .jpg, as to properly replace it, would be pointless. I replaced it due to the noticeable jpg compression artifacts on the earlier version, especially apparent in the Gameplay modification page, where it is displayed at a relatively large size.
:::::If I were to upload the new version as a JPG, the added compression would make replacing it pointless. If I were to upload the old version as a PNG, the artifacts would still be visible. == Hold up. ==
Why are you adding unnecessary italics to character page titles? Toomai Glittershine The Zesty 21:51, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
:The italics in game names is consistent with how we handle such in the wiki, including the titles for every series/universe page and shorthands of a given title (Super Smash Bros. 4's page has SSB4 italicized within the page, for instance). I made these changes with the goal of also making this consistent within fighter pages. #89d —  22:05, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
::From a quick check around, it looks to me like there are more pages without italics on game names than with, and zero with italic abbreviations in titles (not counting those you changed). I think a change this huge needs discussion at talk:Manual of Style before implementing. Toomai Glittershine The Emissary 22:09, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
:::I would also like to object to this change, it feels out of place. <span style="color: blue;">Aidan</span>, <span style="color: blue;">the Rurouni</span> 22:11, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
:::The only game pages I've seen outside of the Smash ones are the pages for each of the Masterpieces, which have pretty much all of their titles italicized. Unless I'm missing something, your claim that there are more page titles without italics seems to be false.
:::SW:MoS clearly states that game/universe names should be italicized, meaning if they may be italicized in titles much like how they are within any page, Smash game titles are just as legitimate for the same treatment (as is already visible in their respective pages' titles). If this is false, none of the universe and Masterpiece pages should have had italics to begin with. The guideline's own page also uses italicized abbreviations for the Smash games, and other more commonly used shorthands like Melee and Brawl are formatted as such throughout the wiki.
:::With this logic, italicizing the SSB abbreviations in titles should be as acceptable as doing so within a page is. #89d —  23:03, June 28, 2019 (EDT)
::::I'm talking about pages like List of SSBB trophies (Yoshi's Island series) or List of SSB4 Music (Donkey Kong series), which have series titles in the article title that have never been italicized. And while it's true the MoS says titles and their abbreviations should be italicized in text, it says nothing about it either way in article titles, so there shouldn't be a mass change in that direction until it's decided upon. Toomai Glittershine The Researcher 23:10, June 28, 2019 (EDT)

Subpages
You say "put my extended page of categories on a subpage"... and how EXACTLY do I do that? NinTylo (talk) 02:37, November 27, 2019 (EST)
:Per SW:USER, a subpage is made by creating a page with a name consisting of your userpage followed by a slash and the name of the subpage you wish to create (e.g., <code>User:NinTylo/Classic Mode</code>). Be mindful that editing or creating user subpages still count as userspace edits, so as I've already said here, focus on editing the mainspace constructively before attempting to organize your userpage. <s>I'm really curious as to where you got the higher quality logo from.
I'm asking this cuz I feel like the image should use the logo from the second game (The Girl Who Stands Behind) for reasons I've already explained on the image's talk page (Miles even gave me the okay to replace the current one).
