Dr. Mario (Dr. マリオ, Dr. Mario) returns as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream, he is significally buffed since his last appearance. Charles Martinet reprise his role as the doctor, abeit recycling voice clips from Super Smash Bros. Melee and older Mario games.


How To Unlock[edit]

  • Play 80 VS Matches.
  • Clear Classic Mode as Mario on difficulty 4.0 or higher.

Attributes[edit]

Dr. Mario is of average weight and somewhat small stature just like his normal counterpart. However, while sharing animations and overall design, he functions a bit differently due to his difference in speed and power and now fights like a stronger yet slower version of Mario like he was originally intended to be in Melee. He is based on Super Smash Bros. Crusade, while using some moves from other Smash Bros. fangames.

Changes from SSB4[edit]

Dr. Mario is more buffed than he was in Smash 4. Most of his attacks and movements are stronger, faster, or slower.

Aesthetics[edit]

  • Change Dr. Mario has a second new idle pose, similar way he had in Dr. Mario 64 during the gameplay where he .

Attributes[edit]

  • Change Dr. Mario's character model now matches Mario's.
  • Buff Dr. Mario walks faster (0.9 → 1.3).
  • Nerf Dr. Mario dashes much slower (1.3 → 1.0).


Ground attacks[edit]

  • Buff Neutral attack deals more damage (8.96% → 10%).
  • Buff New Forward tilt, based on Ganondorf's forward Tilt.
  • Buff New Down Smash, which deals more damage.
    • Nerf Is somewhat slower than the original Down Smash.
