When patch 2.0.0 dropped for Ultimate, Nintendo finally delivered to their fans by providing a list of patch notes. However some people may have difficulty with interpreting what various key terms in the patch notes mean. This page details the equivalent community terms of the key terms used in Nintendo's official patch notes.

Official term Community term Examples/notes
Flurry attack Rapid jab "Flurry attack finisher" refers to the finishing hit that all rapid jabs possess in Ultimate.
Launch distance Knockback "Extended launch distance" refers to an increase in the knockback of the move.
Landing time Autocancel "Shortened the landing time after using the move" refers to an aerial being able to autocancel earlier. Not to be confused with landing lag.
Vulnerability Ending lag "Reduced vulnerability" refers to a reduction in the ending lag of the move.
Power/attack power Damage "Increased attack power" refers to an increase in a move's damage output. Power against shields refers specifically to shield damage. Not to be confused with knockback.
Undamaged launch distance Base knockback "Extended undamaged launch distance" refers to a move having increased base knockback.
Hitstun Freeze frames "Shortened hitstun time" refers to the number of freeze frames being reduced. Not to be confused with the community term known as hitstun.
Hitstun shuffle SDI "Shortened the hitstun shuffle distance" refers to the move's SDI multiplier being reduced.
Damage animation Hitstun animation "Increased the amount of time opponents will be in the damage animation" refers to increased hitstun. Not to be confused with what Nintendo calls "hitstun".
Low-power zone Sourspot "Increased attack power of low-power zone" refers to a move's sourspot dealing more damage.
Attack speed Startup lag "Increased attack speed" refers to a reduction in the startup lag of the move.
Repeated attacks Multi-hits "Shortened launch distance of repeated attacks" refers to the multi-hits of an attack dealing less knockback.
Vulnerability when landing Landing lag "Reduced vulnerability when landing" refers to a reduction in landing lag.
Hit detection Hitbox "Increased the amount of time hit detection lasts" refers to an increase in the number of frames a hitbox is active for.
