Tournament Category Revision[edit]
This tournament is categorized as a superregional instead of a major despite drawing top players from around the United States as well as Mexico. Although many many of its top entrants are from Texas, its inclusion of Marss, MVD, Dark Wizzy, ESAM, and WaDi, all of which are from states across the United States, should qualify this tournament as a major. It also drew Maister and Skyjay from a different nation. If this does not qualify Lost Tech City 2022 as a major, the same should be said for Pactchwork 2024, a tournament with significantly less entrants and an arguably smaller attraction from top players around the continent. 68.199.72.36 19:20, February 9, 2025 (EST)
- "its inclusion of Marss, MVD, Dark Wizzy, ESAM, and WaDi, all of which are from states across the United States, should qualify this tournament as a major"
- This is not how majors work on the wiki. Majors depend on how many top 10/25/50 players are in attendance. In regards to Lost Tech City 2022, this was the makeup if we use OrionRank 2022:
- 0 top 10
- 2 top 25 (Maister, Zomba)
- 4 top 50 (MuteAce, Marss, Lui$, Scend)
- The primary issue with Lost Tech City 2022 is that there is not a single top 10 player in attendance and only 2 top 25 players; aside from Marss and Maister, all the players you listed weren't even ranked top 50 that year. The vast majority of majors on the wiki feature at least 3 top 25 players at the bare minimum. For example, if we compare it to Patchwork 2024 using the LumiRank 2024.1 ranking, we have:
- 1 top 10 (SHADIC)
- 2 top 25 (MuteAce, Zomba)
- 4 top 50 (Kola, Wrath, Syrup, Peabnut)
- Patchwork 2024 was also barely considered a major, and with Lost Tech City 2022 being less stacked in terms of top talent, it has less of a saying power to being a major. I should also note that we've regularly established that entrants count rarely matter for majors (or else Riptide 2022 and 2023 would be considered as such on the wiki). Cookies
