'''Thunder Summit 1''' was an Arizona ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'' invitational tournament held in the campus at Grand Canyon University. It featured 16 players all of which were students attending GGU. Twelve players were invited to the event through their performance at GCU's weekly tournament, Fire Fox Fridays. One additional player would qualify for the event through their performance at Fire Fox Fridays #69. Three final players would be determined through an in-person voting process.

The event was run entirely out of an apartment building on GCU campus. The first apartment suite was used as a stream room, with couch commentary located next to the stream desk. The first bedroom of the apartment acted as the room where the players would play on stream. The second apartment suite was used as a room for players to play in side brackets, friendlies, and watch bracket matches on stream during downtime.

==Tournament Stages==
Similar to {{Trn|Smash Ultimate Summit}}, the bracket was organized into three separate stages. Four round robin pools would seed players into a single elimination gauntlet stage. The 1st place player from each pool was moved through the gauntlet into the winners bracket. The winner of each gauntlet would also be placed in the upper bracket, while the two losers of each would start their tournament run in the lower bracket.
