The tournament was originally planned for August 6th-7th, 2022. However, the scheduled venue, Cocobunji Hall (not to be confused with Coconeri Hall, the venue of {{Trn|Seibugeki 8}} to [[Tournament:Seibugeki 11|11]]), decided to charge a participation fee, and pointed out that charging a participation fee would make it a for-profit event, which might violate the guidelines for ''Smash Bros.'' in Japan. Since the organizers couldn't hold it at that venue and couldn't find a replacement venue in time, they had to cancel that iteration of the tournament.<ref>[https://twitter.com/Seibugeki_Smash/status/1548261163540119552 Seibugeki note], [https://pastebin.com/JXNcYEX1 Translation]</ref>
