Mogul Chessboxing Championship was a chessboxing and Super Smash Bros. Melee smashboxing event hosted by Ludwig on December 11th, 2022. Unlike standard tournaments, the event hosted matches between various content creators and Melee players. Chessboxing is a hybrid sport between two players playing alternating rounds of blitz chess and boxing until one wins by a knockout in boxing, a checkmate in chess, the opponent exceeds the allowed time in chess, or there is a resignation or disqualification. In a similar vein, "smashboxing" is a hybrid sport between Smash and boxing. The smashers participating in the event were Spud vs. 2saint and KJH vs. Fiction in smashboxing, HugS vs. Toph in chessboxing, and Ludwig, fighting CDawgVA in chessslapping.

Format[edit]

Smash Rules[edit]

  • Each card is 7 rounds, alternating disciplines, beginning with Smash.
  • Boxing headgear - optional by mutual agreement.
  • Smash rounds are four stock.
  • Boxing rounds are 1:30 each.

Win Conditions[edit]

  • Smash Bros. (2 Smash round wins ends the card)
  • TKO (a knockout, 3 knockdowns per round, or 4 knockdowns per card)
  • Decision (2-2 draw in Smash and no TKO = Judges decision)

Fight card[edit]

Lawrence Trent vs. Aman Hambleton was announced as the main card and was the highest-rated chessboxing match of all time, however, Disguised Toast vs. PointCrow went last as the main card. Following Disguised Toast vs. PointCrow, Ludwig and CDawgVA did a surprise unannounced match of chesssplapping (alternating face-slapping and chess).

Players denoted with an asterisk (*) are replacement players.
