The Final Battle is the final area in World of Light unlocked after defeating Dharkon in The Dark Realm. In this area, Galeem and Dharkon are fighting for full control.
The Final Battle is the last realm in World of Light that is unlocked after defeating Dharkon in The Dark Realm. Galeem and Dharkon are fighting for full control.

The area and spirits are split into two parts, a Light side and a Dark side. Each spirit from one side matches one from the other side. Defeating more spirits from one side will grant the other side more power, causing one side to push into the other. Defeating enough of one side's spirits will create a path to that side's boss (e.g. defeating all Light spirits will create a path to Galeem), allowing the player to fight that boss. Defeating one of the bosses results in a bad ending where the opposite side seizes control.

When Master Hand and Crazy Hand are both freed and the number of spirits on each side is nearly equal or completely cleared, a path will be created in the top-center of the area leading to the hands. Interacting with the hands will lead to them creating a hole in the realm. The player will then be able to temporarily play as Master Hand, where they are then pitted against 50 puppet fighters consisting of Mario, Link, Samus, Meta Knight, Snake, Sonic, Cloud, and King K. Rool. Clearing will result in the realm "shattering" and revealing a golden backdrop, along with creating paths to Galeem, Dharkon, and a central path. At this point, defeating either light or dark spirits no longer causes a shift of power. The central path takes the player to the final stage where they ultimately fight Galeem and Dharkon at the same time. Defeating both results in the true ending in which the spirits are freed.

*Masahiro Sakurai has claimed that Bayonetta and Palutena were the only two characters other than Kirby that could have feasibly survived Galeem's initial attack in the opening to World of Light. Those two are also the final fighter unlocks required for the true ending the player encounters in a regular playthrough of the mode.
