==Controversy==
On October 12th 2016, Maine Competitive Gaming permanently banned multiple players due to leaked screenshots of a group chat on Facebook which showed three of Maine's well-known ''[[Smash 4]]'' players using derogatory words, which resulted in the ban of seven players. The controversy behind this ban was that three of the seven players banned had said derogatory words in the screenshots, while the others were banned for being involved in the chat. MCG stated that the other players were banned for being complicit with the chat, and said it was their responsibility to do something about the situation. Many players disagreed with how they handled the situation, and thought it was unfair that the players who said no derogatory words got banned for being associated in the same chat. The following day, Maine Competitive Gaming didn't get any entrants for the weekly tournament they hosted, and many players have boycotting their tournaments until their decision on the ban is changed.

Currently the HUD weeklies have been on a hiatus, as several weekly tournaments in a row had 0 entrants. The following monthly after the ban had only 5 entrants for Melee, as well as 8 entrants for Smash 4.
