Talk:Shantae

Do any of you have any sources that say that Shantae was based on a Turkish belly dancer? Because Wikipedia says that some of Matt Bozon's inspirations for the series were Aladdin, I Dream of Jeannie, and The Legend of Zelda, which all have orientalist elements in them. I'm not really sure where the article got that idea from either, since her design always struck me more as Persian, which is the vibe I get from her name as well (hell, I'm pretty sure her name wouldn't even work in Turkish). Alex the Weeb 23:08, May 8, 2026 (UTC)
