Talk:List of major tournaments (PM)
P+ era majors[edit]
Hi, I wanted to put some thoughts I had on majors in the P+ era that might need to have another look taken.
I firstly wanted to lobby for Project M Theatre to count for supermajor status. It's a controversial subject as it's an invitational, but the level of talent at that tournament has only been paralleled by Paragon LA and Olympus (all 5 top 5, 9 of the top 10). The PM community is unique compared to melee and ultimate that a tournament like it, to its caliber will likely never happen again, or at least not for several years, so theres no fear of invitationals clogging up the supermajors - I think it deserves its spot.
Moving into 2023, it's hard to argue that there were any supermajors that year. I'd have to agree that no event deserves it, but I think one event does deserve to count as a major - The Grand Line 2. It would be the lowest attendee event to count as a major, so I understand the pushback, but it actually was the second most stacked event that year, behind Mile High Club (3 of the top 5, 4 of the top 10). Not that storyline is crucial for majors counting, but it was also the conclusion of the DVD/The Doctor/Rongunshu rivalry of that year. I think it's worth considering.
My last point I wanted to make was for 2024 - Bigger Mile High Club absolutely deserves supermajor status. It featured all 5 of that year's top 5, and 7 of the top 10. It was by far the most important tournament of the last 2 years and is a clear and obvious supermajor - especially if tournaments like BL6 and BL7 count as supermajors (I think they should!), but BMHC was a bigger event than both of them.
Let me know what y'all think of it.

- Personally I'm not too familiar with P+, but I did let someone know about this. I'll see what they have to say. Cookies

Thanks! Yeah we just finished the top 100 all time a month or so ago and so all these tournaments are fresh on my mind haha.

- Upon a discussion and vote on Discord. PM Theater and Bigger Mile High Club were promoted to supermajor as there weren't any people against it. Grand Line 2 was put up to a vote, however it did not pass; people believed the entrants count was still too low to justify it being a major, plus the event being too top heavy and not having enough top 50 players after the top 10, especially compared with the smallest PM major in 2023 (Back Hit). I'll post the results of the vote below as a record. Cookies
