Incorrect Trivia[edit]

The Elytra were added in snapshot 15w41a on October 7th, 2015, and in full release in 1.9 “Combat Update” on February 29th, 2016. Magma Blocks were added in snapshot 16w20a on May 18th, 2016, and in full release in 1.10 “Frostburn Update” on June 8th, 2016. Wouldn’t this make the trivia about the elytra being the most recent Minecraft addition represented in Steve’s moveset incorrect? DeadHeat16 (talk) 19:39, May 14, 2021 (EDT)

The elytra did come out before the magma blocks. However the trivia point is about the mechanic of flying with fireworks, which was added in 1.11.1 (snapshot 16w50a) which was released on December 20th, 2016. --CanvasK (talk) 20:00, May 14, 2021 (EDT)

Triple jump glitch[edit]

So that I don't risk an edit war, I'll talk about my edit here. Currently the glitch is described as giving Steve a third jump. However, it has been shown and even mentioned later in the section that he gets all of his jumps back, not a +1 to jump. I find it misleading and confusing that it is described as giving a third jump but then said to restore all jumps. I think it would be best to, at the very least, reword the first sentence to say he regains his jumps instead of gaining a jump.

Another reason my edit was undone was because I changed the name. Apparently the community calls it by "triple jump glitch". If that is the case, so be it, I won't fight it.

Lastly I think it is still worth mentioning Additional Midair Jump spirits as it further emphasizes that it fully restores jumps (up to 5 with Adventure Skills). --CanvasK (talk) 09:44, May 16, 2021 (EDT)

The thing is, the "regaining his jumps" explanation is entirely speculative, with no real evidence behind it other than the rather unremarkable coincidence that he gets 2 midair jumps, which matches the standard jump count of 2. Also, the first sentence says he gains a second midair jump, not necessarily a "third jump", there is a difference. It's also explicitly mentioned that even if Steve has burned his jumps, he gets 2 midair jumps back. I'm not super fond of the term "triple jump" in general, as it lumps the ground jump into the same category as midair jumps, but the Wiki is supposed to be descriptive, not prescriptive, and the majority of smashers who have covered this glitch refer to it as the triple jump glitch. Which is why I brought up spirits. I just tested with a spirit team that gave me two additional jumps, for a total of 4. How many jumps did I have after using all of them and doing the glitch? All 4. I managed to test it in WoL where I had the extra jump skill for a total of 5. How many did I get back? All 5. For all intents and purposes, he gets all of his jumps back. And, as I said, I won't fight the naming; we all know other editors have attempted renaming of community terms and that never pans out well. --CanvasK (talk) 11:04, May 16, 2021 (EDT)
Maybe I should have been more specific. The reason the number of midair jumps you gain access to equals your total number of jumps is because you gain exactly 1 extra jump, and every character only has 1 grounded jump. Any glitch that results in 1 additional midair jump will inevitably fit this, regardless of what is actually causing the glitch. Alex the Weeb 11:38, May 16, 2021 (EDT)
Looking at the param spreadsheet (namely jump_count_max) my understanding is that there is no "grounded jump" count or "midair jump" count, only a jump count and the only thing the game checks to determine if jump_y is used or if jump_aerial_y is used (or the pitch for the bunny hood jump) is if the fighter is grounded. If my "usable_jumps" is equal to jump_count_max on the ground or after the glitch, then there is no difference in the games eye; the only difference is "is_grounded" == false on the first jump in the latter case. --CanvasK (talk) 12:12, May 16, 2021 (EDT)
