What about Pit's custom upperdash move. Does that count as a counterattack? Guybrush20X6 (talk) 13:51, 11 May 2015 (EDT)
Countering unblockable moves[edit]
Hi people, I've read that countering unblockable moves, while they won't save the counterer from the damage usually, can still have the attacking-part of the counter work. E.g. Little Mac countering a KO-punch in a Little Mac ditto: http://smashboards.com/threads/little-mac-dittos-i-countered-a-ko-punch.400719/

Counters under invincibility powerups or otherwise[edit]
Can counters still work if the character is rendered invincible from something such as a Super Star? --SneaselSawashiro (talk) 01:25, 22 August 2016 (EDT)
Counterattacks vs Invincibility debunking[edit]
In the description, there is a bit of text that reads, "Counterattacks also do not trigger if the fighter is invincible, even if the opponent hits them. The animation will simply play as if they were not hit at all."
In Ultimate, this is simply not true. I don't have access to my Wii U, Wii, or GameCube to boot up either Smash 4, Brawl, or Melee, but for the time being –– this definitely isn't true for Ultimate's counters. None except for two specific ones, being Incineroar's Revenge and Joker's Rebel's Guard. You must hit their hurtboxes directly in order to trigger their counterattacks. However, like all other counters I've tested -- every other counterattack will trigger from their counter stance.. even if they're invincible. Although, they will not trigger from unblockable attacks such as KO Punch.
For the YouTube video I've provided, I showcase both Bayonetta and Peach still following through with their counterattack animations while they're invincible. If you step off the revival platform, or get a Super Star.. being invincible doesn't mean you can't trigger counterattacks.
So, in that case, where does this quoted text actually correspond with? Melee, Brawl, Smash 4, or all of them? Thanks in advance to whoever reads this. I'm considering making an edit to this section by exclusively mentioning that it's untrue in Ultimate with the exceptions of Revenge and Rebel's Guard.
