'''Subspace (Part I)''' ({{ja|亜空間|Akūkan}}, ''Subspace'') is the 29th stage that appears in the [[Subspace Emissary]]. The player initially takes control of {{SSBB|King Dedede}}, {{SSBB|Luigi}}, or {{SSBB|Ness}}. As the player travels through Subspace, they will rescue the rest of the [[fighter]]s that were turned into [[trophies]] by [[Tabuu]].

==Overview==
As {{SSBB|Ganondorf}} hails {{SSBB|Master Hand}}, he realizes that [[Tabuu]] is controlling Master Hand with his Chains of Light, stabbed into all five knuckles and in the middle of the back of the hand. Ganondorf angrily rushes at him, but Tabuu thwarts his attack and knocks him away. As Ganondorf falls, he breaks the Chains of Light and frees Master Hand, who rushes at Tabuu. Unfortunately, Tabuu blocks and deflects Master Hand effortlessly. The heroes (except King Dedede, Ness, and Luigi) then arrive at the scene, only for Tabuu to use his Off Waves to reduce them to their trophy forms. 

Back at King Dedede's castle, Luigi, Ness, and King Dedede are stuck in trophy form. King Dedede's brooches, however, revive Luigi and Ness. Afterwards, they decide to revive Dedede and the three set off to find the rest of the fighters. After the heroes have rescued {{SSBB|Mario}}, {{SSBB|Pit}}, {{SSBB|Marth}}, {{SSBB|Ike}}, {{SSBB|Lucas}}, the {{SSBB|Pokémon Trainer}}, {{SSBB|Captain Falcon}}, {{SSBB|Donkey Kong}}, {{SSBB|Diddy Kong}}, {{SSBB|Olimar}}, {{SSBB|Samus}}, {{SSBB|Pikachu}}, {{SSBB|Fox}}, {{SSBB|Falco}}, and {{SSBB|Mr. Game & Watch}}, they are just about to enter the Great Maze until Dedede notices {{SSBB|Bowser}}'s trophy. He revives him and then the two kings fight as the other two heroes in the back anxiously watch. After Bowser's been defeated and turned back into trophy form, King Dedede walks up to the trophy again and revives him once more. Only this time, Dedede smacks Bowser in the nose, which angers the latter, but Dedede points to the defeated Master Hand, which angers Bowser when he notices since he was the only one truly loyal to Master Hand, and makes him finally realize what is going on. Dedede recruits him to his team to defeat Tabuu.

*{{SSBB|Lucas}} - He is found on a platform directly above Falco and Pit, being guarded by [[Trowlon]]s.
*{{SSBB|Ike}} - Enter the door next to Lucas and go to the left.
*{{SSBB|Donkey Kong}} - He is found on a platform northeast of Ike.
*{{SSBB|Pokémon Trainer}} - He is found in a door surrounded by [[bomb block]]s northwest of Donkey Kong.
*{{SSBB|Pikachu}} - It is found to the left of Pokémon Trainer, but it has to be grabbed quickly, before the bomb blocks give way.
*{{SSBB|Marth}} - He is found northeast of Donkey Kong.
*{{SSBB|Fox}} - Enter the door to the left of Marth and it is guarded by a ring of [[Quark Mine]]s.

*{{SSBB|Mr. Game & Watch}} - He is found inside a door to the right of Marth. It is the first one to the right, blocked by some bomb blocks.

*{{SSBB|Captain Falcon}} - To the right of Diddy Kong.
*{{SSBB|Mario}} - He is found in a door below Captain Falcon. It is the last trophy found in this level.
*A cutscene occurs and as King Dedede, the player has to beat Bowser in a duel. Bowser, Luigi, Ness and King Dedede join the player's team.

All the characters that Luigi, Ness and King Dedede recovered in the level return to the team. Bowser also joins the team after the battle with King Dedede, as he realizes Tabuu is the true enemy.
