Deletion[edit]

I disagree with this page deletion as the person's page falls under the notability rule "have participated in or run offline tournaments that use standard tournament rules, and have achieved at least regional recognition".

This person helped to organize and run an offline tournament in Moscow in October 2022 (and actually won the event).

Bracket can be found here: https://www.start.gg/tournament/csm-smash-vault-tournament-season-2022/event/melee-singles-offline-1/brackets/1201891/1856258 (should probably be added to the profile page but I'll leave it to them).

Moreover, the region is quite unique in that it is incredibly spread out geographically so the online competition is pretty much the only viable format. Thus I would argue that notability clause for online results shouldn't really apply to this region's PR'd players (starting from the 2022 PR onwards, at least). Otherwise there simply would be no way to allow for recognition on this site for locally recognized competitors besides whoever reached whatever arbitrary winrate for online tournaments is deemed sufficient for page retention. hi, I'm soru. I asked for this page to be created because whenever my name is linked in the Russian PR, it links to Towa, an Ultimate player from Canada completely unrelated to the post-Soviet Melee scene. I didn't bother creating a page for a long time before this because I didn't think that would bring much utility. Our primary concern is removing the confusion, and we have tried everything else to make sure references to me didn't result in a link to a player from a completely different continent playing a different game. Nothing worked, so we decided to make a page for me with a more unique version of my tag.

If this isn't reason enough to keep me on the site, I can expand on my history. I've been helping with event organizing in the Moscow Smash 4 scene and have TOd events by myself (most notable being a Smash 4/Melee event at GBX 2016). I banned Bayonetta. Back when I played Ultimate, I placed in Top 8s often and at Winter Rumble 2019(https://www.start.gg/tournament/super-smash-bros-ultimate-csm-winter-rumble-2019/event/csm-super-smash-bros-ultimate-1vs1-tournament/overview), I beat Pixelmeme, a player that would go on to be ranked first in that season and someone deemed relevant enough for this wiki. I also TOd the biggest offline Melee local in Russia at CSM 2022(https://www.start.gg/tournament/csm-smash-vault-tournament-season-2022/events) and placed first in that bracket.

Pingeee's last point about the physical size of the region rings true regardless. We are not just a "Russian" Melee scene, we are a post-Soviet scene. It is made up of many countries and ethnicities separated by kilometers, massive mountain ranges and awful routing. We are only able to be united as a scene through language and the Slippi rollback client. Offline results being a necessary qualifier for regional relevancy is practically only applicable in places like America and Europe where populations are denser and players are more capable of regional travel. I think my antics over the years have earned a small amount of recognition, but I urge you to reconsider your rules whether you make a positive decision about me or not. Wait so if I read that correctly the reason u changed ur tag to "crescentsoru" was because of another player having the same tag even tho the problem can likely be solved with "location = "? With that said, the TOing part is definitely a good point to bring up since it's contributing to your Smash scene. Well it's true that offline results indeed isn't everything. It's indeed worth noting that being in a unique situation geographically makes determinating regional recognision different. Even tho I wasn't sure about the results part, combining with TOing it's likely that the page gets to stay. Grand Dad.png NPM Morr!? NaughtyPigBoi.jpg 22:27, January 19, 2024 (EST)
