He is very well known for his performance at {{b|Royal Flush|tournament}}, where he placed 5th.


Marcus first competed in {{forwiiu}} under the tag '''The Great Gonzales''', playing {{SSB4|Ness}}, and initially established himself with several notable performances in the Tristate area, including defeating {{Sm|ScAtt}} at {{Trn|KTAR XIX}} and placing 9th at {{Trn|Apex 2016}}. His breakout event took place at {{Trn|Royal Flush}}, where he defeated {{Sm|Mr. E}}, {{Sm|Pink Fresh}}, and {{Sm|WaDi}} to place 5th, his first major top 8 of his career. Since then, he has placed well at a variety of other majors, picked up {{SSB4|Diddy Kong}} towards the end of the game's competitive lifepan, and defeated {{Sm|Lima}} at {{Trn|Frostbite 2018}}. In addition, Marcus is known for winning the post-''Ultimate'' ''Smash 4'' event at {{Trn|Supernova 2024}} with solo-Ness, the event becoming the largest ''Smash'' event won by a Ness player in any ''Smash'' game.
The Great Gonzales is currently ranked 3rd on the [[New Jersey Smash 4 Power Rankings]]. He has taken sets off of players such as {{Sm|James}}, {{Sm|Vivid}}, {{Sm|Mr.E}}, {{Sm|Pugwest}}, {{Sm|Lima}}, {{Sm|WaDi}}, {{Sm|ScAtt}}, and {{Sm|Salem}}.


Marcus achieved greater recognition in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''{{'}}s early metagame, where he initially played {{SSBU|Simon}} and {{SSBU|Richter}} before swapping to {{SSBU|Palutena}} a month later. His greatest tournament run took place at {{Trn|Smash 'N' Splash 5}}, where he placed 13th after upsetting {{Sm|Tweek}}, achieving one of the largest upsets in the early metagame, and defeating {{Sm|Gackt}} and ScAtt. Alongside several other strong performances, such as placing 3rd at {{Trn|Scarlet Classic V}} after defeating {{Sm|Suarez}}, Marcus was ranked 43rd on the [[Spring 2019 PGRU]]. Since then, he has rarely traveled outside his region to compete and has switched to {{SSBU|Mr. Game & Watch}}.
On November 15th, 2017, The Great Gonzales announced that he will be dropping Ness indefinitely for {{SSB4|Diddy Kong}}. He has, however, used Ness for a select few match-ups such as Fox.
