'''Hax$''' (pronounced "Hax Money", May 7th, 1994 &ndash; March 25th, 2025), informally known as '''Hax''', was a Saudi American ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'' player based in Manhattan. With a career that spanned over a decade, he is considered one of the greatest ''Melee'' players from New York City and the [[Tristate]] area as a whole.

Hax$'s career began in the late 2000s, where he broke out onto the scene at {{Trn|Pound 3}} using {{SSBM|Captain Falcon}} with the [[Alternate costume (SSBM)#Captain Falcon|pink costume]] (commonly known as Captain Fabulous or Pink Falcon). By 2013, he was considered the best Captain Falcon player in the world and was ranked in the top 10, but despite this achievement he switched to solo-maining {{SSBM|Fox}} in early-2014, where he remained a top 20 threat for several years and became widely regarded as the most technical Fox player of his time. Additionally, Hax became a notable figure in ''Melee's'' technical community, pioneering the [[Haxdash]], pushing numerous [[Shine]]-related techniques, and releasing numerous detailed videos on ''Melee's'' [[glitch]]es, [[advanced technique]]s, and more. Furthermore, Hax had a history as a [[tournament organiser]], running [[The Nightclub]] before it changed hands. Pushing things further, Hax developed the [[Melee 1.03]] mod and, arguably his magnum opus, the [[B0XX]] [[arcade controller]]. 

Hax went on an indefinite hiatus in April 2016 due to having a calcified FCU tendon, which was left untreated because no surgeon was willing to remove it. During this hiatus, he worked on the [[B0XX]], a controller designed in a similar vein to the Smash Box by Hitbox, after having tested the Smash Box and finding it unsatisfactory. After receiving treatment for his hand problems, he slowly returned to competitive play in the following year, notably attending various ''Melee'' events showcasing the potential of the B0XX, and spent a long time balancing it to be as fair to a GameCube controller as possible. Even with the controller change, Hax remained a threat in competitive play, and by 2019, he was considered to be playing at a level similar to when he played on a GameCube controller.

While still being relatively active, Hax's mental health experienced a sharp decline throughout 2024, and was hospitalized in 2025. ===Origin of the name===
Hax used to be into competitive Pokémon. In the context of competitive Pokémon, "hax" is lingo for the uncontrollable RNG involved in battles, such as critical hits, that can sometimes undeservedly turn the tide of a match. The high number of angry players who would call "hax" after severe losses due to this prompted Hax to name himself after this term. When switching to competitive ''Melee'', Hax wanted a fourth character in the space given for [[Name|tags]] in-game, and decided to add the dollar sign to it, eventually giving birth to "Hax$" or "Hax Money".

===2008-2009: Starting Off===
Hax began his ''Melee'' career as an up-and-coming Captain Falcon main who quickly rose up the ranks in his region. At his first major tournament, [[Pound 3]], he placed 9th; he lost to {{Sm|Mew2King}} in the first round of winners' bracket, then ran through losers' bracket and defeated {{Sm|LoZR}}, {{Sm|Silent Wolf}}, and {{Sm|Colbol}} in losers', then was eliminated by {{Sm|Azen}}. A year later, at [[Revival of Melee]], Hax once again showed fantastic prowess with his Captain Falcon; he lost to {{Sm|Eggm}} in winners', but went on another mini-run through losers' bracket, taking out {{Sm|thumbswayup}}, {{Sm|HBK}}, and {{Sm|RaynEX}}. He then lost to {{Sm|Jman}} 0-2, with both games going down to the last stock, finishing at 13th in singles overall.

Hax's next major was [[Apex 2009]], which was also his biggest breakthrough in the ''Melee'' scene to that day. At that tournament, he defeated {{Sm|ChuDat}} in winners' bracket before losing to {{Sm|Jman}}, but went on another run through losers', this time taking out big names such as {{Sm|Anther}}, {{Sm|Scar}}, and {{Sm|Kage}} before losing to {{Sm|ChuDat}} in a rematch, placing 4th overall. At [[GENESIS]], he teamed with {{Sm|Hungrybox}}, where they were defeated by {{Sm|Armada}} and {{Sm|Aniolas}} in the winners' bracket. They rose through the losers' bracket, but only reached 13th place. He reached 7th place in ''Melee'' singles, besting many of the most talented players from North America and Europe.

===2010-2011===
Hax then reached 13th place at [[Pound 4]], the second highest placed Captain Falcon at the tournament (behind {{Sm|SilentSpectre}}, who was considered the strongest Captain Falcon at the time). In doubles, he teamed with {{Sm|Darc}} and was rather successful, placing 4th. At [[Apex 2010]], Hax once again lost in the first round of winners', this time to {{Sm|I.B}} from Canada. He then eliminated {{Sm|WarriorKnight}}, {{Sm|th0rn}}, {{Sm|Silent Wolf}}, and finally, {{Sm|ChuDat}} in a rematch from Apex 2009, before being stopped by {{Sm|Zhu}}'s Falco, placing 9th overall in singles.

After a comparatively low placement of 13th at [[Revival of Melee 3]] and a handful of tournaments where he failed to break the top 8, Hax once again placed within the top 8 at [[Pound V]]. There, he continued his trend of losing very early in winners' bracket, this time to {{Sm|Zhu}}. He then tore through losers' bracket, defeating {{Sm|tect}}, {{Sm|MacD}}, {{Sm|Kels}}, {{Sm|Amsah}}, and {{Sm|VaNz}}, before meeting and being defeated by {{Sm|Axe}} in losers' quarters, finishing 5th overall. He also placed 3rd in teams, teaming with {{Sm|Hungrybox}}. Hax then placed 9th at [[GENESIS 2]], where he sent {{Sm|HomeMadeWaffles}} to losers' and eliminated {{Sm|Fuzzyness}} and {{Sm|Fly Amanita}}, but was defeated by {{Sm|Taj}} in winners' and {{Sm|PPMD}} (then known as Dr. PeePee) in losers'.

===2012: Best Falcon in the world===
Hax placed in top 8 at [[Apex 2012]]. Although he lost to {{Sm|Zhu}} 1-2 early in winners' bracket, he eliminated {{Sm|SFAT}} 2-1 and {{Sm|MacD}} 2-1 in losers' bracket before losing to {{Sm|JAVI}} 0-2 in losers' top 8. He continued to perform extremely well in tournaments later that year, with a 5th place finish at [[Zenith 2012]] and [[Revival of Melee 5]] and a 6th place finish at [[MELEE-FC10R Legacy]]. At the latter tournament, he made it into the final round-robin bracket, where he defeated {{Sm|Kels}} 3-1 and {{Sm|Darkrain}} 3-2, with the latter match solidifying his position as the best solo main Captain Falcon in the world. However, he lost to everyone else in the bracket, placing 6th overall.

===2013: Turn to the Dark Side (20XX)===
Hax placed in top 8 at [[Apex 2013]], defeating JAVI 2-1 in a rematch in winners' bracket, as well as {{Sm|Kage}} 2-0, before losing to {{Sm|Dr. PeePee}} 0-2. In losers' bracket, he eliminated {{Sm|Axe}} 2-0, but then lost to {{Sm|Mango}} 0-2 for top 8. At [[EVO 2013]], Hax defeated {{Sm|S2J}} 2-1 in the winners' quarters pool to make it into the semifinals pool. He lost to Dr. PeePee 1-2 in winners' bracket, and then to {{Sm|Ice}} 0-2 in losers' bracket, placing 9th overall.

At this point in his ''Melee'' career, Hax popularized the "20XX" joke, depicting a post-apocalyptic world where everyone played Fox to [[Tool-assisted superplay|TAS]] levels of perfection. He also began claiming that Captain Falcon, as a character, was not strong enough to make him become the top Melee player in the community. Although many doubted that he would switch to Fox at first, Hax dropped Captain Falcon entirely after [[The Big House 3]], much to the disappointment of many Captain Falcon fans. It seemed for a while that Hax would take his Fox to the top level at his next major after winning No Johns Monthly, defeating VaNz and {{Sm|The Moon}} in a dominating fashion.

===2014: Rise of Fox in a summer of Smash===
Hax underperformed in ''Melee'' singles at [[Apex 2014]], placing 17th. He lost to {{Sm|s0ft}} in winners' finals of the first round of pools, and made it to losers' quarters in the second round of pools before losing to {{Sm|Ice}} 1-2. However, he managed to win ''Melee'' doubles with {{Sm|Mew2King}}. They lost to Mango and {{Sm|Lucky}} 2-3 in winners' semis, but once in losers' bracket, they managed to defeat {{Sm|Shroomed}} and S2J 2-0, Armada and Ice 3-2, and Hungrybox and {{Sm|Plup}} 3-1 to make it to grand finals against Mango and Lucky. They won the first and second sets 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.

Hax upset Mango 3-1 in winners' finals at [[WHOBO MLG]], including two Fox ditto victories, but then lost two consecutive 0-3 sets in grand finals to his Falco. At [[SKTAR 3]], Hax defeated players such as {{Sm|ZoSo}} and {{Sm|Nintendude}} in winners' bracket before losing to {{Sm|Armada}} 0-2. In losers' bracket, he eliminated {{Sm|ChuDat}} 2-0 and Zhu 2-0 before being eliminated by Mew2King 0-2 in losers' quarters, placing 5th overall. Due to Hax's strong placements at WHOBO MLG and SKTAR 3, he qualified for the [[MLG Anaheim 2014]] championship bracket.

In his pool at MLG Anaheim 2014, Hax defeated {{Sm|Leffen}} 3-2, {{Sm|Colbol}} 3-1, {{Sm|s0ft}} 3-0, and {{Sm|Remen}} 3-0, but lost to PPMD 1-3, Mew2King 1-3, and Axe 1-3. He was seeded in losers' bracket in the championship bracket, where he eliminated S2J 3-2 and {{Sm|PewPewU}} 3-2 before being eliminated by Leffen 2-3, finishing off at 7th place.

At [[EVO 2014]], the largest ''Melee'' tournament at the time, he placed 13th out of a massive number of 970 entrants. In the winners' quarters pool, he unexpectedly lost early to {{Sm|Zanguzen}}. However, he managed to sweep the losers' quarters pool, eliminating {{Sm|Lovage}}, {{Sm|Reason}}, {{Sm|DEHF}}, {{Sm|Hyprid}}, and Nintendude, before losing to Plup 0-2 in top 16, ending his run.

At [[Zenith 2014]], Hax placed 2nd in ''Melee'' singles, defeating {{Sm|Fly Amanita}} 2-0 and {{Sm|Wizzrobe}} 3-1 in winners' bracket, making it to winners' finals against Mew2King. He won the first two games, including a win against Mew2King's {{SSBM|Marth}} on Final Destination, though ended up losing the set 2-3. In losers' finals, he defeated {{Sm|Zhu}} 3-2. Hax then won the first set of grand finals against Mew2King 3-1, with another win on Final Destination, although he still lost the second set 0-3. Hax also won ''Melee'' doubles with Mew2King, defeating Axe and {{Sm|ZeRo}} in both winners' finals and grand finals.

===2014: Post-summer of Smash and hiatus===
Hax attended [[The Big House 4]], the 4th largest Melee tournament of all time. In pools, he had a close set with {{Sm|Vro}}, where Hax won the set 2-1. In top 16, Hax faced off against Mango's {{SSBM|Captain Falcon}} and {{SSBM|Marth}}, losing 1-3, sending him to losers bracket. He then had a close set with {{Sm|Kalamazhu}} in losers, taking it 3-2 and advancing into top 8. After defeating {{Sm|Kels}} 3-0, he faced Armada in losers top 8, taking the first game convincingly, but ultimately ended up losing 1-3, placing 5th. In doubles, he teamed with fellow Fox main Leffen. They beat {{Sm|HugS}} and Lucky 2-0 and {{Sm|DJ Nintendo}} and The Moon 2-0 as well, before losing to Hungrybox and Plup 2-3. In losers, they defeated SFAT and Axe, and VaNz and MacD, both 3-1. In losers finals, they had a rematch with Hungrybox and Plup, but lost once again, this time 1-3, netting them 3rd.

Hax then attended the New York regional tournament [[Justice 4]]. In winners finals, he faced Armada, where he lost 1-3. After beating Zhu 3-0 in losers finals, he faced Armada once again in grand finals, which Armada won 3-2 in a much closer set. He also teamed with Armada in doubles, getting 1st without dropping a set.

On January 1, 2015, Hax announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from Smash as a result of a hand injury and insomnia, forcing him out of [[Apex 2015]].

===2015: Return and second hiatus===
Hax made his full return to Smash after recovering from his hand surgery at [[Super Nebulous 3]] in late April 2015. He lost to {{Sm|Nintendude}} in winners semis 2-3, getting sent to losers. After beating Wizzrobe 3-1, he lost to Lucky in losers semis 2-3, placing 4th.

In July 2015, Hax announced another hiatus. In [http://ssbmhax.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-ive-been-out.html a blog post], he discussed his insomnia, which worsened whenever he was at a tournament. Hax surmised that his insomnia may be linked to his his perfectionist "20XX" mentality. Hax said he would still practice and attend some major tournaments, such as Apex and EVO, but would not attend as many tournaments until his insomnia was under control. {{Sm|Tafokints}} made a video detailing Hax's condition, saying that he, as of writing, was in a cast for his prior injury, but had been making progress, and would return in the near future.

===2016: Second return and third hiatus===
Hax has made a return at NYC Nebulous Prime Locals. He has defeated {{Sm|DJ Nintendo}} at these events, placing first in the ones he has attended. However, he has said in interview that he is not ready to return in full force just yet. His first huge tournament of 2016 was Shots Fired 2, where he placed 3rd, and used the money he got from the tournament to pay for his last surgery. His next big tournament was [[Pound 2016]], where he went on a rampage through pools, making it to Winner's Ro32. There, he defeated smashers such as SFAT 2-1, Nintendude 3-0, and eventually defeated Mango in Winner's semis 3-2, in a close set where Mango missed a crucial edgeguard, giving Hax his ticket to Winner's finals against Hungrybox, where he was defeated 3-0. Sent to Loser's finals, Hax was pitted in a rematch against Mango, where again, he was defeated 3-0, ending Hax's run at 3rd place.

After initially making himself eligible for being voted to participate in [[Smash Summit 2]], Hax [http://ssbmhax.blogspot.com/2016/04/summit.html drop out] due to another hand injury. Its recurrence prompted another indefinite hiatus from ''Smash'' until he could fully recover.

===2017-2018: Third return and the B0XX===
Hax posted an [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WED3yskzeIQ update video] on January 19th, 2017. In the video, he further detailed the complications with his hands and revealed that he had finally met a doctor that would treat most of his hand problems that arose, the incurable thumb joint arthritis that eventually developed on his left hand now prevented him from using a GameCube controller. Hax also discussed his experiences with the [[Smash Box]] [[arcade controller]] during his hiatus. While Hax had a relatively painless experience using the Smash Box even before the final hand surgery, he proposed several changes, most of which were shot down due to logistical issues with submitting them. {{Sm|Cactuar}} then approached Hax and told him about two Rutgers University engineering students, Arhum Siddiqi (also known as {{Sm|WatchingTime}}) and James Taylor, who were working on a Smash Box-based product called the "Icebox" that would work better for {{SSBM|Ice Climbers}} players' [[desynching]] techniques. A controller design commissioned and approved by {{Sm|Frycook}}, Hax decided to contact them and contribute to improving the Icebox for use with Fox, slowly implementing the changes he initially submitted to the Smash Box team, and giving the product a new name: the "[[B0XX]]". Hax stated that the B0XX would be customizable, and additionally slated a return to competitive ''Melee'' for February 2017, though he would not attend a tournament until a month later at [[Smash Summit Spring 2017]] as a commentator.

After a few months of attending locals on the B0XX, Hax won his first tournament with it, Nebulous Melee 85, in May 2017. Since he began using the B0XX, he has taken sets from ranked players such as {{Sm|Westballz}}, {{Sm|KJH}}, {{Sm|Crush}}, {{Sm|Fiction}}, {{Sm|Kage}}, {{Sm|Captain Smuckers}}, {{Sm|DJ Nintendo}}, and {{Sm|Qerb}}. He has also since made update videos defending his thinking on the legality of the B0XX and is still working on getting it legalized in the MIOM recommended tournament ruleset.

===2019-2020: Partial resurgence===
Hax had a rough start to 2019, placing 17th at [[GENESIS 6]] and only winning some smaller tournaments. The Summer MPGR placed Hax at 25th in the world. Hax's results began to pick up in the summer when he got 9th at [[Shine 2019]], he then went on to place 3rd at [[Mango's Birthday Bash]] beating {{Sm|Hungrybox}} in the process. This led to Hax's being ranked at 19th, 19 places better than in 2018. At the start of 2020, Hax attended [[GENESIS 7]] where he was knocked into losers early by {{Sm|Leffen}}. He beat {{Sm|SFAT}}, {{Sm|Westballz}}, {{Sm|PewPewU}} and {{Sm|Shroomed}} for the opportunity to play {{Sm|Leffen}} again, in which Hax won 3-1. Hax placed 4th at [[GENESIS 7]] after being reverse 3-0'd by {{Sm|Hungrybox}}. This placement also qualified him for one of the few invite spots to {{Trn|Smash Summit 9}}, where he placed 7th.

===2021-2023: Post-ban and partial unban return===
After his ban in June 2021, Hax could only attend online tournaments until he was partially unbanned on January 1st, 2023, though still banned from most majors. Throughout the year, Hax would become a mainstay on [[The Box (series)]] online weekly and [[The Nightclub]] NYC local weekly, wherein in the former would often get a top eight placement and in the latter often placing 1st or 2nd. Hax would also attend other tournaments in NYC and the surrounding region.

The first non-local in-person tournament back was the regional [[LVL UP EXPO 2023]] where Hax would place 4th. Hax later placed 4th in the next regional [[The Come Up 2023]]. The only major Hax could attend was [[Tipped Off 14: Resurgence]], where Hax placed 17th, winning 3-0 against {{Sm|n0ne}} and losing to {{Sm|MOF}} and {{Sm|Mekk}}. [[Smash Factor X]] would be Hax's biggest set wins and best placement of the year with Hax getting notable wins on {{Sm|S2J}}, {{Sm|lucky}}, and {{Sm|Eddy Mexico}} to reach grand finals where Hax would win the first set on {{Sm|Hungrybox}} during Grand Finals, with {{Sm|Hungrybox}} winning the runback causing Hax to earn 2nd place. [[The Off-Season 2]] would be a notable charity invite tournament where Hax got into the singles final bracket through the open bracket being one of four to do so having to beat {{Sm|SFOP}} and {{Sm|Skerzo}} to get into the invite bracket, where Hax would place 9th after losing to {{Sm|Zain}} and {{Sm|Salt}}. In [[The Function 3]], Hax would place 4th, winning over {{Sm|Jmook}}, then losing to {{Sm|Aklo}} and {{Sm|Chem}}.

===2024-2025: Post-permanent ban===
After his permanent ban in January 2024, Hax was allowed to attend [[S Factor 11]] because S Factor's TOs decided to make a Facebook poll for the Mexican community to decide if Hax could attend, with unknown numbers the poll was in favor of Hax's attendance. Hax would place 2nd beating {{Sm|Shroomed}} and {{Sm|S2J}} and losing to {{Sm|Hungrybox}}. Later in the year, Hax was invited to the final [[Xanadu]] tournament for ''Melee'' at {{Sm|GimR}}'s request, resulting in some controversy within the MD/VA ''Melee'' community, as the T.O. {{Sm|Bard|p=District of Columbia}} resigned from organizing the event, and the event would no longer count for MD/VA Summit points, both presumably resulting from Hax's inclusion. Hax would place 2nd losing to {{Sm|RapMonster}} in Winner's Finals and Grand Finals.

On December 20, 2024, Hax announced that a new weekly tournament series "GIN" run by {{Sm|Wes}} would launch, with Hax being allowed to compete. Hax would enter "GIN" local events through December 2024 and early 2025, with GIN #5 being his last tournament before his death in March 2025.

==Playing style==
Hax was arguably the strongest Captain Falcon player in the world, utilizing much of the same deadly combos as Falcon mains before him, but with a superior playstyle. Unlike other Captain Falcon players, who relied on what Hax saw as mindless aggression, Hax played very conservatively by utilizing [[camping]] and clever baits to get openings. This made him the strongest Captain Falcon against more defensive characters (such as {{SSBM|Marth}} and {{SSBM|Sheik}}), and eventually, in the world. He was also the most technical Captain Falcon player, as he had amazing reactions and spacing, and utilized difficult techniques such as the "[[Haxdash]]", an invincible ledge-invincibility refresh that doubles as a visual mixup. As Fox, Hax continues pursuing a perfectionist mindset with fast reactions and extreme technical skill, but has become a lot swingier, notably using a lot of fadeback neutral airs and jittery close-range movement. Hax is known for going for nearly frame-perfect combos and theoretically unbreakable [[shine]] pressure, along with reaction tech-chases and a strong ledge-game, often retreating to the ledge to be able to invincibly ledgedash and regain a strong neutral position.

However, this perfectionism has also led to losses in certain matchups. The video, named as a sequel to the archive file that was used to advocate a ban for {{Sm|Leffen}} back in 2013, alleges that Leffen has mentally abused several people in an effort to become the best player, after being suspicious of his behavior ever since his first interactions with him on SmashBoards in 2011. He urged the community to reconsider whom they were following and alleged several claims against Leffen:

*Leffen attempted to systematically take control of the community by pointing out others' flaws and downplaying his own to perpetually attempt to garner sympathy.
*Leffen never being explicit about the truth of the archive or his initial forgiveness plea, citing incendiary comments he made after the archive was first posted and right before his initial plea, and that the initial plea was a dishonest apology.
*Leffen would attempt to organize events that coincided with other people's events and urge his followers to ignore them or criticize other events for poor time management.
*Leffen spread misinformation about the game's mechanics and the [[B0XX]], and banned anyone that disagreed with him.
*Leffen went through obsessive lengths to discredit the B0XX and its legitimacy as a competitive controller, posting "anti-B0XX propaganda" to his social media accounts.
*Leffen started a "smear campaign" against Hungrybox amidst their feud, culminating in someone throwing a crab at Hungrybox at {{Trn|Pound 2019}}.
*Leffen attempted to garner support from the newly formed ''Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'' community by painting {{Sm|Salem}} as a villain, showing hefty critique of Salem's "years of research" video.
*Leffen distorted the story of an altercation he had with another Smasher into a story of abuse and prejudice to further paint himself in a sympathetic light.
*Leffen used the aftermath of the [[2020 Super Smash Bros. sexual misconduct allegations|wave of harassment allegations back in July of 2020]] to usurp the follower base of players that had been accused to present himself as a leader and safety net for people that had been mistreated by top players.

The video drew massive criticism and backlash from the community, believing the accusations to be without merit or proof, with many in particular condemning Hax's choice to analogize Leffen to political figures such as Adolf Hitler and accuse him of trying to establish a "totalitarian regime". Conversely, some community members argue Hax's video has merit, albeit tainted in overly dramatic language and comparisons, and claim the community has a history of being overly forgiving towards its best players as a reason to not entirely dismiss Hax's accusations. Leffen responded with a post saying he was unsure of his next course of action and would be speaking to a lawyer.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/TSM_Leffen/status/1401031413143642112|title=Leffen on Hax's post}}</ref> Hax would eventually private the video, which has since been reuploaded by multiple channels across Youtube.

PracticalTAS published a [https://twitter.com/PracticalTAS/status/1401392261502545922 summary, analysis, and commentary] of Hax's 136-page PDF file into a 12-page document, plus a 4-page addendum, on June 6th.<ref>[https://twitter.com/PracticalTAS/status/1401392261502545922 PracticalTAS summary, analysis, and commentary of Evidence.zip 2.pdf]</ref> He concluded that the majority of claims in the document were unreasonable, remarking that though Leffen had a history of aggressive social media behavior, his actions were the norm for a player of his fame and prowess, and criticized Hax for attempting to psychologically profile Leffen despite having no authority to do so.

In response to the video, on June 9th, Beyond the Smash banned Hax from attending {{Trn|Smash Summit 11}},<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/BTSsmash/status/1402767685637722113|title=BTS's ban on Hax}}</ref> citing safety concerns and believing the video promoted harassment and threats.

On June 11th, 2021, Hax published a revised version of the video,<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0FfakLr8O8|title=The second video}}</ref> which in was an hour shorter and featured less dramatized language. Hax would speak on the subject through Twitter, posting an apology for the presentation of "Evidence.zip 2"<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srnt6t|title=TwitLonger — @ssbmhax: Why I created Evidence.zip 2 / My closing thoughts for the time being}}</ref> and continuing to post comments about the "situation" of the ''Smash'' scene. The revised video would be privated thereafter.

===Cody Schwab conflict===
On June 21st, 2021, {{Sm|Cody Schwab}} accused Hax of downplaying and making fun of Cody's story of being sexually assaulted by his own mother.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/iBDWSSBM/status/1407082926337150976|title=iBDW's initial post}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sro2d0|title=TwitLonger — @iBDWSSBM: Hax's Rebuttal}}</ref> Cody also tweeted that he attempted to retrieve evidence to support his claims from Facebook messages, but that Hax had deleted the relevant messages.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/iBDWSSBM/status/1407774396656324611|title=iBDW saying Hax deleted Facebook messages}}</ref> Hax responded in a series of now-deleted Tweets, accusing Cody for faking the story in order to gain Hax's sympathy as well as taking his comment out-of-context.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://imgur.com/a/cr4nMjM|title=Hax's response, archived}}</ref>

In particular, he reiterated how Cody falsified many parts of his story in order to salvage their decaying friendship, and after that failed, Cody went on to make several defamatory statements on Hax to ruin his reputation. Hax concluded the TwitLonger by apologizing for his behavior within the last few months and stating that he was willing to ban himself for 3 months due to how he handled Cody's accusations. Within an hour of posting the second TwitLonger, Hax deleted his tweets that linked to both of the TwitLongers he had posted that day. He then tweeted that he would take a hiatus, saying he didn't find it possible to continue discussing the controversies.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1407844466984161281|title=Hax beginning a hiatus}}</ref> In the tweet, he also apologized to the community and reiterated his request for Cody to contact him. ===2021 Indefinite ban===
On June 24th, 2021, the same day as Cody's final announcement, several TOs from many US states signed a [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qrO5TlLztX-9s7cI78_EfWNepIaHkwVa3379mC_glrw/edit document] that indefinitely banned Hax from their tournaments,<ref name="Hax Ban">{{cite web|url=https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qrO5TlLztX-9s7cI78_EfWNepIaHkwVa3379mC_glrw/edit|title=Hax's indefinite ban}}</ref> and his name was added to the Global Ban Database,<ref>{{cite web|url=https://gamerant.com/super-smash-bros-hax-banned-multiple-tournaments/|title=Super Smash Bros. Pro Player Hax Banned by Multiple Tournaments}}</ref> and then later to its successor the [[Community Safety Resource Project]]'s Restricted Player Registry.<ref>[https://www.communitysafetyproject.org/restricted-player-register Hax on the Restricted Player Registry]</ref> The ban was made using the previous [[SSB Code of Conduct Panel]]. According to the ban statement, the reason for the indefinite ban from events was:
* 2.2.1 “Directed and malicious intimidation, harassment, or bullying” (Level 2 offense)
* 2.2.3 “Malicious gossip with the intent of manipulating the victim’s social circle, defamation of character” (Level 3 offense)

The document iterated that Hax's accusations were baseless, particularly comparing Leffen's behavior as fostering a totalitarian regime, the belief that Leffen solely called out ZeRo for personal gain, and saying that Leffen would prefer ZeRo were dead following his suicide attempt, and that Hax's recommendation to ban Leffen from events, constituted inciting harassment. The TOs argued Hax's refusal to recant the statements and double down, only deeming the flaws as "tactical errors", were signs of malicious intent on Hax's part, and thus constituted an indefinite ban from events.

Notable events banning Hax$ include [[GENESIS]], {{Trn|Shine}}, [[Phoenix Blue]], [[Riptide]], [[The Big House]], and [[DreamHack]]. Outside of several US states, Hax$ is also banned from Austrian, British, Finnish, and Portuguese events, as well as Melee Online events.

===Evidence.zip 3 & ban appeal===
On August 14th, 2021, Hax released another revision to his video called [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msy4E3ScZVk Evidence.zip 3]. In the video, which has since been privated and archived on a separate channel,<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msy4E3ScZVk Evidence.zip 3: The Last Hope for Smash reuplouded]</ref> he accuses Leffen of creating social engineering campaigns against multiple players, such as {{Sm|Hungrybox}} and himself. The video also reiterates multiple allegations from "evidence.zip 2", such as character profiles from the original "evidence.zip" and alleged harassment levied towards Hax himself. Hax alleges that Leffen deleted 6 years worth of tweets in response to his evidence.zip 2 video, as well as being lawyer-bluffed. Hax also criticises his global ban from the scene, saying that his accusations had evidence and were not libelous or defamatory as his ban statement claimed, as well as claiming that his ban was hypocritical when doing nothing in regards to Leffen.

Building on some accusations from "evidence.zip 2", Hax points out Leffen's sudden tonal shift towards Hungrybox in 2017 and accuses him of social engineering against Hungrybox to usurp his followerbase. Hax discusses where he tried to talk Leffen out of this at [[Smash Summit 5]], but failed to do so. Hax accuses Leffen of blackmailing Hungrybox during 2017, where he continually talked about "terrible things" Hungrybox was doing but never releasing them; Hax claims that this prompted Hungrybox to stay silent. Hax also claims that the then newly introduced {{Sm|Snowy}} was used by Leffen in his now-deleted "One of many reasons to dislike hbox" video to create "Hungrybox story" memes, which eventually culminated into Hungrybox being harassed in a Walmart store in April 2018. Hax also argues that Leffen later decided Snowy was of no use to him and began to openly slander him.

Hax once again accused Leffen of manipulating the #MeToo movement, pointing out that the victim testimony given in [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y9Mfch7XXg his video on the allegations in the Smash community] on July 2nd contradicted C's statement in the original evidence.zip, which pinned Leffen himself as the abuser. He also accused Leffen of misrepresenting and even contradicting many claims in his videos on the topic, as well as making insincere tweets to "gain clout". Hax further criticized Leffen for circulating the rumour about {{Sm|Mew2King}} masturbating on a Smash player, which was [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVuEST8RdL8 proven to be false after Mew2King addressed the allegations]. Earlier in the video but relevant to this topic, Hax built upon {{Sm|Technicals}}' video on Sky Williams and also accused Leffen of conspiring with {{Sm|Jisu}}, whom he claimed was manipulative when they were dating, to defame {{Sm|ZeRo}} with baseless allegations, before verifiable accusations against him had emerged. He restated Technicals' claims that Leffen's allegations of ZeRo sharing pornographic images with other Smashers were moot, for not only were they of age, but they also testified that they were looking at normal images of anime girls instead of porn. Hax also pointed out that, prior to Jisu's allegations against ZeRo, Jisu contacted Leffen, and made [https://twitter.com/JisuArtist/status/1278843558401675264 her tweet statement] only minutes after Leffen tweeted that he would log out of [[Twitter]] to gather his thoughts. Hax claimed that this was strategic and part of the conspiracy, accusing Leffen of drawing attention to the allegations for personal gain and trying to become the most popular Smasher on [[Twitter]] by forcing ZeRo into retirement, allegedly in a similar manner to the way Leffen treated Hungrybox. Hax also believes that Leffen's wish to expel {{Sm|Technicals}} from the community in response to [[Smasher:ZeRo#Challenges_to_the_allegations|their challenges to the allegations]] is an attempt to further manipulate the situation.

Hax criticized Leffen for his response to {{Sm|Samox}}'s {{B|Metagame|documentary}} documentary, claiming he lied about his old controversies and pressured Samox to "censor" victim testimonies and other information regarding them. Hax also expressed concern about the revised version of the documentary, particularly regarding the narrative about the original evidence.zip and the portrayal of Leffen as a "hero", as well as how Leffen now had a theme song deriding the evidence.zip archive. He alleged that this set a precedent for top players to lie and control the narrative, and argued that Samox had not only become one of Leffen's "victims" by giving into Leffen's manipulations, but broke his "integrity" as a purveyor of facts by underrepresenting the accusations in evidence.zip. Later Samox would explain the change was unrelated to Leffen with it being changed due to an unnamed person who was interviewed threatening to sue if the clip of himself was used, with only a total of twenty seconds being changed.<ref>[https://twitter.com/_samox_/status/1750634235461865944/photo/3 Samox statement]</ref>

Hax's final accusations targeted Leffen's social media behavior, particularly the alleged dishonesty of his profile bio's and him blocking anyone attempting to discuss the allegations on either Twitter or his [[Twitch]] stream. He restated a claim from evidence.zip 2 that this behavior exhibited a degree of narcissism and psychopathy indicative of the {{Iw|wikipedia|dark triad}}, something he believes those who testified in evidence.zip were worried would eventually "erode" the ''Smash'' scene. Hax also condemned Leffen for allegedly letting this behavior rub off on people like Jisu, who went silent on social media for several days after Technicals' video on Sky Williams and never offered a proper response to it, whilst blocking anyone that attempted to discuss it. Hax concluded the video by admitting that accusing Leffen of creating a "regime" is extreme, but alleged that there was no better way to describe Leffen's actions.

The video was criticized primarily for the same reasons as "evidence.zip 2", with onlookers expressing skepticism for a myriad of Hax's claims. Many argued that Hax's videos were indeed defamatory, with them believing that the claims and motives are out of character or even extreme. Others have criticized Hax for repeatedly using the original evidence.zip, believing that Leffen has changed and the antiquated nature of the document makes it questionable to cite. Finally, the video was criticized for comparing Leffen to Donald Trump as an allegory to paint the former as "totalitarian". Several community members also criticized Hax for getting more people involved in the controversy regardless of their relevance to the situation and therefore making them prone to harassment, most notably Samox. Nevertheless, some chose to side with Hax, particularly those who are fans of Technicals who believe that there is precedent for Leffen manipulating situations for his own benefit, believing that Hax should not have been punished at all for his videos and public statements.

===Continued ban appeals, apologies, & partial unban===
On August 29th 2021, Hax released another video contesting his ban from the scene,<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9JhFRMsfM0 Hax - Public Appeal to My Ban from SSBM Tournaments]</ref> which directly addresses a [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hvwt27rktDHq4jlExKoqts7VIh4GAuI6Dx2ZjIfnAFc/edit document] by Mikey outlining the reasons for his ban.<ref>[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hvwt27rktDHq4jlExKoqts7VIh4GAuI6Dx2ZjIfnAFc/edit Mikey's document explaining the reasons for Hax's ban]</ref> He criticized the statement for saying there was no evidence to back his allegations and for being overly generous to Leffen overall, and argues that the very logic used to justify his ban could be used to justify banning Leffen for his interactions with Hungrybox alone. The ban appeal was later unlisted and archived on a separate channel.

Hax would be interviewed on Sep 1, 2021 where Hax would state, among other things, the main reason for the negative reaction of Evidence.zip 2 was with how he phrased his wording, that he is falling back into alcohol addiction, that his goal was to "nuke Leffen" because Hax states Leffen completely eroded the purity of the smash scene, and reiterated many of his previously stated allegations.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q17qszSUTc&t=121s Interview with Hax$, discussing his ban from the Smash Community/Evidence.zip]</ref>

On September 24th 2021, Hax released a video<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pH5yvEPujE Apology video]</ref> where he apologised for his conduct throughout his conflict with Leffen, claiming it to come from an argument over the revision of the Metagame Documentary that he took too far. This also came with an apology tweet on [[Twitter]].<ref>[https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1441537392226316304 Apology tweet]</ref>

On July 25th 2022, Hax issued a public apology to Leffen, Jisu, and others affected by his conduct resulting from evidence.zip 2.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CALXaO1ETCo Apology to Leffen]</ref> In the video, he revealed that he was suffering from alcoholism as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a bout of psychosis. He also apologised for his comments on the #MeToo movement, citing his black and white thinking as a contributing factor. He revealed that since these events, he had been sober for 9 months and has been working on his personal issues. Hax would later private this video.

On January 1st, 2023, Hax was [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_qBOMKYLdtPKXrnqoQZ2w8wiaHPNbv2O9J2fK-vvkEs/edit probationally unbanned] from NYC Melee after agreeing to only appeal to be unbanned in private with TOs, among other clauses.<ref name="Hax's Probationary partial Unban">{{cite web|url=https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_qBOMKYLdtPKXrnqoQZ2w8wiaHPNbv2O9J2fK-vvkEs/edit|title=Hax's Probationary partial Unban}}</ref> Outside of NYC Melee, Hax would be unbanned on the discretion of the individual TOs and Organizations, in which Hax would attend several majors and regionals outside of NYC Melee.

On 28th October 2023, Hax$ released a ban appeal and apology video on his YouTube channel,<ref>[https://youtu.be/4TGnw3W2FcM Oct '23 Ban Appeal original link]</ref><ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teQesuP5Y64 Oct '23 Ban Appeal reuploud]</ref> apologising to Leffen, tournament organisers, and more. He also discussed the progress he made in the 2 years since his ban. Despite breaking his unban agreement to not make public ban appeals, the video was mostly positively received as Hax seemed to take accountability and showed remorse. Hax would later private this video.

===Relapse, "The Truth", doxxing, perma bans, and further apologies===
Hax$ would release another ban appeal on January 21, 2024, restating many of the same claims that led to his initial ban<ref name="Jan 2024 ban appeal">{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR9A70YKxf4&t=282s|title=Jan 2024 ban appeal}}</ref><ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR9A70YKxf4 Jan 2024 ban appeal original link]</ref> wherein he also leaked the testimonies from the original 2013 [[Evidence.zip]] without permission, which contains peoples full legal names. The ban appeal was later deleted and archived on a separate channel. Hax$ would release a video a week later entitled "The Truth",

The video's accusations and recanted apology led NYC Melee to [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bM5Rhc2ZRePWEzWAdAu_iUwZpQgjvPIUG7MfF_Rv99w/edit reinstate] his ban on January 23, as a result of breaking multiple clauses in the unban contract, including preventing public ban appeals, and violation of harassment, malicious gossip and disclosing confidential information COC rules 2.2.2 & 2.2.3.<ref name="Ban from NYC Melee">{{cite web|url=https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bM5Rhc2ZRePWEzWAdAu_iUwZpQgjvPIUG7MfF_Rv99w/edi|title=Hax's Ban from NYC Melee}}</ref>

On January 27, 2024, Willy P, the head TO of NYC Melee, made a [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yjv20zx1279TcGaQGMeLvu1iz_MLwpe82MCV9Z0Kzkg/edit personal statement] regarding Hax's ban.<ref name="Willy P personal statement">{{cite web|url=https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yjv20zx1279TcGaQGMeLvu1iz_MLwpe82MCV9Z0Kzkg/edit|title=Willy P personal statement}}</ref> He states that they ignored his first ban appeal video, despite it violating the unban agreement, as they initially saw it as a legitimate sign of improvement and accepting responsibility. However, they decided to take action after the second one due to it revealing personal information he was not granted permission to disclose, whilst repeating many of the statements about Leffen that prompted his ban and removing videos in which he apologizes to him. Willy P also criticized Hax for not listening to the people who encouraged him to speak to TOs privately instead of posting his arguments out in the open. He stated that this was a sign that Hax had not actually improved or accepted responsibility, and was unlikely to do so with such flagrant disregard for the rules, so as such NYC Melee voted unanimously to ban him.

On February 1, 2024, TOs signed a [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dg-R86Zz_toB3EbfvGCJ4wvJTwyQyRlunCh-P1_HCV0/edit new statement] announcing that Hax was permanently banned, for multiple instances of inciting harassment, failing to take sufficient accountability for his actions, doubling down when confronted, and refusing to abide by the terms of his return to local events.<ref name="Hax Permanent Ban"/>

On 7th March 2024, Hax$ released another apology video<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_--ksDQd2c Apology to Leffen, My Friends, and the Melee Community]</ref> where he apologises to Leffen and deemed his past behaviour "self-destructive" and discusses his previous relapses and decision-making, believing that none of what he did was honourable and was arguably an orchestrated harassment campaign. {{Sm|Mew2King}} notably requested unbanning of Hax$ on the basis of his own harassers not being banned at all, and in June 2024, went on to make a video on the matter.<ref>[https://youtu.be/_httcMT7Ri0 Mew2King video]</ref> On May 13, 2024, Hax made another video requesting to be unbanned at some point in the future.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VliN-J-K10 Regarding My Ban]</ref> This video would later be unlisted. On 24th March 2024, Mikey would [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Ufce5V47RV8K5JuwA5PDczbDUJDT10_ETaRaEAizdA/edit elaborate on the ban], stating that, in November of 2023, TOs discussed Hax's ban but intimately did not form a consensus, causing some TOs to unban him and others to keep the ban. Mikey stated that one of the major points of contention for unbanning Hax was that he would repeatedly defend his allegations in private with TOs even after he publicly apologized for them. Mikey stated that, in his opinion, Hax would do whatever he believes is most expedient to get him unbanned, whether it's repeatedly doubling down, apologizing, or justifying his prior actions, and that his public remorse was overshadowed by what he had said in private. After Hax restated his claims publicly, even after being warned about doing so, Mikey believed that this justified a permanent ban. Mikey stated that he believed the main harm Hax caused was through his following harassing community members, also refuting some claims that he says are promoted by "Drama Youtubers", who he claims are exploiting the situation for their own benefit. Mikey also refutes the idea that he personally was the one primarily responsible for banning Hax, stating the decision was virtually unanimously agreed upon by TOs. ===Post permanent ban appeals and harassment allegations===

On July 25, 2024, Hax would apologize for his stated misconduct of leveraging his platform to target another community member. However, Hax stated that he believes a permanent ban is excessive punishment and that he is now remorseful and grown from his prior actions. He asked for the scene's leadership to reconsider the permanent ban and stated that he wanted to go back to being an innovator in the scene.<ref>[https://x.com/ssbmhax/status/1816660123718221923 July 25 apology and denouncing ban]</ref>

On July 30, 2024, Hax$ released a ban appeal video, specifically regarding his perma-ban in January 2024.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDu2s1QmzKo&t=39s Melee Community Permanent Ban Appeal (Part 1) re-upload]</ref><ref>[https://youtu.be/0S6LeugSbro Melee Community Permanent Ban Appeal original link]</ref> He brought up a claimed issue with getting private responses from TOs regarding how long his indefinite ban would be, due to alleged ambiguity between the 2 year ban and indefinite clause. Due to an alleged inability to get responses, he argued that, despite agreeing to only make ban appeals in private with TOs as per his probationary partial unban agreement, his public ban appeals were justified, and that a 6 month ban would have been more justified. Given these factors, Hax deems the ban as "cruel" and that, in spite of his own faults, there were mistakes on both sides. The video was criticized due to Hax citing his original ban statement instead of his new one, and for not understanding what specifically he was banned for.

The day after, on July 31, 2024, {{Sm|Radar}} criticized Hax for still arguing some of the claims he made in his initial videos, and he accused Hax of continuing to deflect the blame to the TOs and inciting harassment against them.<ref>[https://twitter.com/radarssbm/status/1818430253058212040 Radar's Statement]</ref>
In a second tweet, Radar again criticized Hax for causing his fans to harass him and not trying to defend him, deeming it unfair for how much he tried to help Hax.<ref>[https://x.com/radarssbm/status/1818681012110680486 Radar Statement Addendum]</ref>

A few hours later on the same day, July 31, 2024, Hax released a follow-up video clarifying points raised, one of which being that he was in fact not a repeat offender as he was never unbanned from majors, he claimed that because he was still banned, this is what led him to publishing his ban appeal video in the first place. He went on to condemn Technicals, the FreeHax movement, and in Hax's words "dramatubers", as well as apologize for any harassment TOs may have received as a result of the FreeHax movement, which he claimed he was unaffiliated with. Hax concluded by declaring his intent to discuss his unban with the proper parties, and for help in hopefully reintegrating back into the community for a final probation.<ref>[https://youtu.be/52CSthPYMk4 Melee Community Permanent Ban Appeal (Part 2) re-upload]</ref><ref>[https://youtu.be/cxxbU2r9WsY Permanent Ban Appeal Part 2 original link]</ref> Both of these videos were unlisted within three weeks of their posting.

On August 3rd, 2024, Willy P also alleged that Hax had been stalking him in his attempts to get unbanned, such as by camping outside the venue, entering the venue and harassing staff, then refusing to leave, leading to his ban from the venue; circumventing blocks on social media; and finding his way into Willy P's unrelated private work Discord for his students.<ref name="Willy P accusing Hax of stalking him">{{cite web|url=https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GULjVnWW0AA6XC2?format=jpg&name=large|title=Willy P accusing Hax of stalking him}}</ref><ref>[https://twitter.com/willypNYC/status/1819933789549732118 Willy P accusing Hax of stalking him original link]</ref><ref name="DarkGenex Document"/>

Following these videos, Hax would make several tweets about his ban. On August 1, 2024, he decried his ban as unjust and argued that he was not a threat, declaring he only took drastic measures due to him not getting unbanned when he believed he would. Hax further expressed confusion about being banned due to being "one of the hardest workers when it comes to the longevity of the game".<ref>[https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1819119452467929579 Hax decrying ban]</ref>

On August 4, 2024, Hax responded to the stalking accusations, calling them "defamatory". According to him, he only went inside after spending several minutes outside waiting for {{Sm|2Saint}} to confirm he had permission to enter the venue. Hax did confess to circumventing his social media blocks to get messages to Willy P through others, but he denied deliberately joining any private Discord servers, claiming that he merely entered several software engineering Discord communities and came upon Willy P's by chance. He concluded his statement by alleging that Willy failed to appreciate what he had done for him personally, calling him a "coward", though stated he is willing to make amends.<ref>[https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1820267164131057760 Hax's stalking rebuttal]</ref> Willy P would state that he is still being harassed.<ref>[https://twitter.com/willypNYC/status/1819954638075953173 Willy P stating he is still being harassed]</ref> After failing to make amends with NYC Melee, Hax tweeted to them on August 11 asking to reconcile again, hoping they could fix things.<ref>[https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1822599224749359154 Hax asking to reconcile with NYC Melee]</ref> 

Later, on September 24, 2024, Hax would apologize to the community and TO's stating for not taking accountability and blaming others for being banned instead of his own decisions. Furthermore, Hax would apologize to Leffen again.<ref>[https://x.com/ssbmhax/status/1838785263562084726 Apology & Expression of Gratitude]</ref> A month later, on October 24th, Hax would apologise to TO's and the community in general, stating for "distasteful choices" and for not taking accountability, further stating after self-reflection in the past couple of months he came to the conclusion that it was his own fault where he has ended up currently, and stated he has caused nothing but harm to the community and wasted everyone's time.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLo8eiPad3U Progress and Appreciation]</ref>

==Mental health problems, suicide attempt, and death==
On 30th May 2024, {{Sm|DarkGenex}} released a [https://imgur.com/a/hax-archive-do92DT4 document] regarding Hax's ban, detailing a bipolar disorder diagnosis, alcoholism, hospitalisation, and suicide attempts, exacerbated from his failed ban appeals. Additionally, DarkGenex recounted private handlings of Hax's ban, where Hax is alleged to have harassed multiple TOs, including allegedly going to a post-venue bar to try and appeal his ban. Furthermore, Hax allegedly refused help from his friends with moving on to the next stage of his life, believing the only way forward is through being unbanned to fix his mental, social, and financial stability.<ref name="DarkGenex Document">{{cite web|url=https://imgur.com/a/hax-archive-do92DT4|title=DarkGenex Re: Hax & Mental Health Document}}</ref><ref>[https://x.com/CrispBit/status/1796219316565639316 Further corroboration of DarkGenex document and added details]</ref><ref>[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jHUTly72RUao3APv2AN550Lk2UrGwKaeLUaCBerzRGA/edit?usp=drivesdk Hax & Mental Health Document original link]</ref>

The document would be made private in response to Hax's mother threatening a lawsuit, although Hax would say he supported DarkGenex publicizing it, stating it was a misunderstanding and the matter was resolved.<ref>[https://twitter.com/ssbmhax/status/1798048376090746980 Hax defending DarkGenex and confirming the document's authenticity]</ref>

The revelations of Hax's mental health troubles prompted renewed discussion on Hax's ban. Several statements Hax has made on X have also been seen by the community as signs of Hax's deteriorating mental health, with him describing his current position in his life feeling isolated from not only his friends but his source of income and aspirations for his own future. Several posts were with regard to his own sanity and various hospitalizations due his stress, with one post describing his situation as being akin to death. Zain notably [https://twitter.com/ZainNaghmi/status/1804549730665459978 criticized] the "FreeHax" movement for fueling Hax's dependency on playing competitive ''Melee'', arguing that an unban would fail to address the larger underlying problem.<ref>[https://twitter.com/ZainNaghmi/status/1804549730665459978 Zain's statement]</ref> Later, Hax would release a statement<ref>[https://x.com/ssbmhax/status/1867637962173014069 Suicide attempt tweet]</ref> where he states on August 20th he made a suicide attempt by jumping in front of a train, which he miraculously survived,<ref name="SimpleFlips Reaction">[https://youtu.be/TWTSer5e3cM SimpleFlips Reaction]</ref> resulting in his leg being amputated below the knee.<ref>[https://x.com/ssbmhax/status/1867637962173014069 Life Update (explicit content)]</ref>

On March 24th, 2025, Hax$'s mother had informed the community through a GoFundMe on his Twitter account that his situation was critical, as he was on a ventilator in the ICU.<ref>[https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-abdulaziz-hax-alyami Hax's GoFundMe page]</ref> She had informed everybody that doctors expected for him to pass away the night before, but he had just made it through that night. Community members banded together to spread awareness about his situation, such as {{sm|Mew2King}},<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJhKOw76amk Mew2King's video calling for support for Hax's fundraiser.]</ref> {{sm|Armada}},<ref>[https://x.com/ArmadaUGS/status/1904276481502585062 Armada spreading awareness about the fundraiser.]</ref> and {{sm|Cody Schwab}}. Hax would pass away peacefully the next day. The fundraiser would be updated to cover the costs of his funeral with an updated goal of $40,000 USD. Mew2King mentioned during a livestream prior to his death that he wanted to visit him in the hospital, while {{sm|Hungrybox}} was on his way to do so, but was too late.<ref>[https://x.com/LiquidHbox/status/1904527786846388612 Hungrybox laments not being able to visit Hax in time.]</ref>
