'''Brood''' ({{ja|ブルード|Burūdo}}) Smasher from Tokyo, [[Kantō]]. Beginning his tournament career in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' as an {{SSBB|Olimar}} player, he was first recognized globally for his international debut at {{Trn|Apex 2010}}, where he defeated many of North America's best players to place 2nd. This remains the best Olimar major performances in ''Brawl'', and alongside many other successful performances, including several top 8 major finishes in Japan, Brood is considered one of the greatest ''Brawl'' Olimar players of all time.

Following {{forwiiu}}{{'}}s release, Brood swapped to playing {{SSB4|Duck Hunt}}. Similar to ''Brawl'', he infrequently traveled outside of Japan during this time, and though he found great success in Japan, such as placing 9th at {{Trn|Umebura Niconico Qualifier}} and having a few top 8 performances at {{Trn|Umebura|series}} events, his results were, overall, overshadowed by {{Sm|Raito}}. Nevertheless, Brood was still able to establish himself as one of the greatest ''Smash 4'' Duck Hunt players of all time, and was best known for defeating {{Sm|ZeRo}} at {{Trn|GENESIS 4}}. Though he was never ranked on the [[PGR]], Brood was recognized by the alternative ranking [[OrionRank]], who placed him 98th on their [[OrionRank 2017|2017]] list. 

In ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'', Brood was initially a {{SSBU|Richter}} player before switching to {{SSBU|Piranha Plant}} upon the character's release. With Piranha Plant, he is best known for his run to 2nd at {{Trn|Umebura SP 4}}, where he took out many of Japan's best players at that time, including {{Sm|Shuton}}, {{Sm|Kameme}}, and {{Sm|Gackt}}, along the way. This performance remained the only top 8 major finish from a Piranha Plant player until {{Sm|Tas}}'s run at {{Trn|Sumabato SP 50}} 5 years later, and to this day is still considered the greatest major performance from a Piranha Plant player. Brood eventually swapped to {{SSBU|Banjo & Kazooie}} in the latter half of 2019, but returned to Piranha Plant in the post-pandemic metagame, and though he never came close to his performance at Umebura SP 4, he is still considered the greatest Piranha Plant player of all time.
