==Origin==

Metal Face first appeared in ''Xenoblade Chronicles'' during the attack on Shulk's hometown, Colony 9. He is immediately identified as the biggest threat, but nothing can be done to stop him; he easily destroys all the weaponry used against him and kills many Homs, including Shulk's childhood friend [[Fiora]]. During the attack, Metal Face displays unusual cunning for a Mechon and an immunity to the Monado, which is otherwise the only weapon that can harm Mechon, making him practically invincible. After the attack is over, Shulk leaves Colony 9 to chase him down for revenge. When they next meet, he shows that he can speak by taunting Shulk over enjoying his killings, and only leaves because of external interference. It is later revealed that Metal Face is a shell controlled by Mumkhar, a traitorous former war buddy of [[Dunban]]'s who was presumed dead after the Battle of Sword Valley, and doesn't particularly care for the orders he's given, as long as he gets the Monado in the end.

Metal Face is a card-carrying villain, relishing the pain and suffering he causes for its own sake. He openly gloats to Shulk and the others about the people he killed in front of them simply because he felt like it.

Metal Face first appeared as a shadow at the end of [[Shulk]]'s [[List of Super Smash Bros. 4 character trailers#Shulk|reveal trailer]], teasing his role as a stage hazard on [[Gaur Plain]], which was confirmed in the {{h2|Nintendo Direct|Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza}} Direct.

Metal Face has a random chance of appearing shortly after nightfall. When he does show up, he will either perch himself at the center of the stage, or fire his Grand Shot to destroy one of the top platforms, then land on the smaller ones beneath. Once in place, Metal Face will unleash a wide-ranged Killing Claw at any fighters that get too close to him, but will not actively chase anyone, instead preferring to sit back and enjoy the show. He can be defeated by attacking him, and when that happens, he will burst into a series of explosions and fall to the bottom of the stage, dealing heavy damage and knockback to any fighters in range who didn't land the final hit on him. If he is not destroyed before dawn, he will leave the stage, sometimes with a "parting gift" in the form of a dashing slash along the horizontal length of the stage.

Metal Face is a very noisy stage hazard, with an extensive set of voice lines for when he arrives and departs, attacks anyone nearby, and gets attacked or destroyed - he will even taunt the fighters if no one approaches him. Metal Face appears as a random event: bumping into him will initiate a battle against him in Gaur Plain. If not defeated in time he flies to another spot in the map, but he retains any prior damage.

Metal Face also appears as two [[primary spirit]]s, including his Mumkhar form.

In [[Adventure Mode: World of Light]], Mumkhar is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by [[Galeem]] during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, [[Dharkon]] takes control of Galeem's spirits, including Mumkhar. After Dharkon's defeat, he flees to the final world, with Galeem following soon after. In the final world, Galeem and Dharkon wage war against each other using their captured spirits, with Dharkon taking control of Mumkhar.

Mumkhar's Spirit Battle uses a {{SSBU|Wolf}} puppet fighter and is fought on the [[Gaur Plain]] stage. During the battle, Wolf will turn [[Giant]] and [[Metal]] when at high damage, referencing Mumkhar's ability to transform into his giant Faced Mechon, Metal Face.

Metal Face can be obtained by [[Enhanceable spirit|enhancing]] the Mumkhar spirit at level 99.

*One of the [[List of tips (SSB4-Wii U)|tips]] in the Wii U version of the game mentions that whoever KOs Metal Face gets credit for the KO, like [[Ridley]]. This is likely a leftover from earlier in development, as it does not occur in the game. Metal Face also has an unused head icon in the same style as Ridley, suggesting that it was intended to be used like Ridley's when a player KO's Metal Face.
*Metal Face has a total of 49 voice clips, by far the most of any non-playable character, and more than many playable ones.
