Smashers who participated in at least three tournaments were considered for the ranking, though those who only participated in three were given a 10% penalty to their total points.

A Smasher's top 5 point scores would be added together to determine their point total, which was then compared to that of other Smashers. In the case that a player had less than 5 point scores, the formula: total × 5 / number of participations was used. This point system was used to determine the top 50 and to rank places 11 through 50. The top 10 players were re-ranked based on their results in sets against other top 10 players. Players with more winning records were ranked higher. In cases of equal numbers of winning records, whoever led in the head-to-head would be ranked higher; if that was still inconclusive, set win percentages against the top 10 was used to tiebreak.
