an attack effect in Brawl
There are a few attacks in the Smash Bros. series that have the grass effect. Grass attacks deal 110% knockback to Squirtle and 90% knockback to Charizard, and they use the visual effects of a slash attack, but otherwise they have no special characteristics. The only playable characters that can use grass attacks are Ivysaur and Kirby.

Grass is an attack effect in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Grass attacks have the same visual appearance as slash attacks, generating a crescent-shaped visual effect.

Due to type effectiveness, grass attacks deal 110% knockback to Squirtle and 90% knockback to Charizard. Aside from being boosted by Grass Attack stickers, this is its only gameplay effect.
Interestingly, grass attacks are considered almost equivalent to slash attacks in the Subspace Emissary, in the sense that almost all enemies which resist slash attacks also resist grass ones by the same amount (Primids being the exception). There are no enemies that are weaker to grass attacks than other attacks.

Ivysaur is the only character that has grass attacks, other than Kirby copying Ivysaur's Bullet Seed.

Grass is the only major effect to not return in future games. No known attacks in Super Smash Bros. 4 or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate use it; despite Ivysaur being present in the latter, its attacks are generally Normal. It is unknown whether the effect is merely unused, or removed outright.

The Subspace Emissary
In The Subspace Emissary, almost all enemies have the same resistance to both slash and grass attacks; Primids are the only exception, taking 1.3× damage from slash attacks but 1.0× from grass attacks.

Trivia
*Although some attacks have a plant-like aesthetic to them, they are considered slash attacks instead. These include Venusaur and Snivy's Razor Leaf and Mega Man's Leaf Shield. This is due to the grass effect being exclusive to Brawl.
**Additionally, Chikorita is a Poké Ball summon in Brawl, but its Razor Leaf attack does not have the Grass effect.
