The moves seems to be unique to the Super Smash Bros. series. However, in Donkey Kong Country 2, Diddy's Kong Quest, when Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong defeated King K. Rool, Donkey Kong broke free of being tied up and he punched King K. Rool with enough force to smash him out of the Flying Krock. Giant Punch may have been loosely based on this move. The only difference between the moves is that Donkey Kong punches forward in the Super Smash Bros. series and punches more like an uppercut in Donkey Kong Country 2. Chunky Kong also had a similar strong punching move in Donkey Kong 64. However, Giant Punch first appeared in the original Super Smash Bros., which precedes Donkey Kong 64s release. | |||
