OK, so I've been doing a lot of thinking about how to improve the quality of the Smasher namespace, and one things kept coming to mind. We need some kind of better definition of the skill category or need to change it. I'm tired of seeing pages about people who claim to be pros, but have never entered a tournament, and then try to defend this skill level by claiming they are the best in the world with some character, but no one knows about them. What I plan to do is change the "skill" to "status." This is a much clearer definition, and is actually what the field is being used as now anyway. Skill is a nebulous term, while status is easily defined. Amateur, Semi-Pro, and Professional are not actually designations of skill, but of one's status in the scene. They are easily measured.

It wouldn't hurt to get everyone's input on these classifications, so we can work out a legit definition for each. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 20:47, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I personally don't see anything wrong with continuing to call it skill. If someone claims they're a pro, but have never been to a tournament, people can just inform them and request it be changed to Pro-Am or Semi-Pro. In truth, I don't think it's one or the other, but rather both. These denominations could both be interpreted as skill and status. - GalaxiaD (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
"Pro" is in no way an actual definition of skill. It is a definition of status. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 22:16, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

i dont know, seems kind of cocky to do something like that for some reason 69.12.204.107 00:16, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
