'''El Salvador''' is a ''Smash'' region that encompasses the [[wikipedia:El Salvador|country of the same name]]. It borders [[Honduras]] to the north and [[Guatemala]] to the south. Tournament activity primarily takes place in the country's capital city, San Salvador.

El Salvador is considered one of the strongest [[Central America]]n countries. Its strength is the result of having many players succeed at Central America's largest events, though not to the extent of Guatemala and [[Costa Rica]]'s best players. The first to do so was {{Sm|Luisfer}}, who was able to see respectable performances at ''[[Super Smash Bros. 4]]'' majors in the [[United States]]. ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'' especially greatly improved El Salvador's presence in the competitive scene thanks to the region receiving greater recognition on the [[PGR]], whose improved international multiplier for the ill-fated [[Spring 2020 PGRU]] season allowed Salvadorian tournaments to count for the rankings for the first time in their competitive history. The post-[[COVID-19 pandemic]] metagame also saw improved results from both {{Sm|Romeo Santos}} and {{Sm|Wolfen}}, both of whom became the first Salvadorian players to rank on a global ranking, doing so on the [[LumiRank 2024.2]]. This metagame also saw the rise of the {{Trn|Legends}} series, which became the largest tournament series in Central America, attracting players from all across Central America and [[Mexico]].
