The '''Dominican Republic''' is a ''Smash'' region located in the Caribbean that encompasses the country of the same name. It is part of {{iw|wikipedia|Hispaniola}} and shares the island with Haiti. 

The region is often considered the strongest Caribbean region for competitive-''Smash'', especially in ''Ultimate'', due to featuring some of the largest tournament series in the Caribbean, including {{Trn|Fighting Fest}} and {{Trn|Blink Respawn}}, as well as many notable players that have since gone on to find success outside of the region. Despite their strength, Dominican players rarely traveled outside of their region for most of the 2010s. As such, several Dominican players gained early recognition for their performances online. This gradually changed in the following decade as several Dominican players began traveling more frequently, the most notable being {{Sm|Sonix}}, the region's best player who has since become one of the greatest ''Ultimate'' players in the post-pandemic metagame, and {{Sm|Capitancito}}, who is {{SSBU|Mii Gunner}}'s most well-known representative; both players have regularly been ranked globally, with Sonix in particular frequently ranking amongst the top 10. Their greater presence on the international scene improved the region's representation, leading to more of their events to be considered for the global power rankings.
