{{pkmn|Blastoise}} is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation I}}. It is listed as #009 in the Pokédex and known as the "Shellfish Pokémon". Blastoise evolves from Wartortle at level 36, which in turn evolves from [[Squirtle]] at level 16. As of {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation VI}}, it is also capable of undergoing {{iw|bulbapedia|Mega Evolution}}. While Blastoise was absent in the base games for ''{{iw|bulbapedia|Pokémon Sword and Shield}}'', it became obtainable in the games via ''{{iw|bulbapedia|The Isle of Armor}}'' DLC expansion, with a Gigantamax form.

{{iw|bulbapedia|Hydro Pump|move}} is a Water-type move with 110 base power (120 in {{iw|bulbapedia|Generation}}s I-V) and 80% accuracy. Blastoise and its pre-evolved forms learn it naturally by level up.

Blastoise makes its first appearance as a [[Poké Ball]] Pokémon in ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' Blastoise uses Hydro Pump as its attack. It stations itself on the stage and starts firing blasts of water from the cannons on its back towards one side of the stage. The blasts of water deal 6% and making contact with Blastoise itself will deal 13%. Blastoise also moves back slightly for each blast of water and can fall off the stage if close enough to the ledge.

Blastoise has a spawn rate of {{Fractions|1|12}}.

Blastoise's Japanese voice clip is from the ''Pokémon'' episode ''Beach Blank-Out Blastoise'', and plays in the second part of the "Who is it?" segment.

Oddly, [[AI|CPU-controlled]] {{SSBM|Fox}} and {{SSBM|Falco}} will try to [[Reflector|reflect]] Hydro Pump in spite of it being immune to reflection-based hitboxes. Other CPU-controlled characters will try to counter the attack with their [[shield]]s as well. Additionally, it fires faster than in ''SSB'' and does not push itself back as far.

Blastoise's Japanese voice clip is the same one used in ''Smash 64'' while its English voice clip is from ''Fit To Be Tide''.
