The red color of the Monado's beam is a reference to the red color which identifies physical Arts in menus. The startup animation is similar to a cutscene in ''Xenoblade Chronicles'', where Shulk unlocks the ability to use Monado Speed, and leaps into the air before slamming the Monado onto the ground in order to grant {{iw|xenoserieswiki|Sharla}} the speed necessary to avoid the {{iw|xenoserieswiki|Mechon M71|part 1}}'s tentacles, and thus her death as he foresaw in a vision.
