As for the sake of what you are arguing, Pokémon Trainer's design is clearly based off of Red's, not Ash's. Ash has a distinct hat, hairstyle, face and attire that Pokémon Trainer does not share; Pokémon Trainer has the same hat, facial features, hairstyle, and attire that Red does. DoctorPain99 03:48, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

Ah, my bad on the timestamps.

But that does not make him Red. We know what his design is based off of, and that's fine. But we can't call him Red in the literal game since he specifically does not refer to him as Red... in the game. It's why we have to keep information about him literally being Red off the wiki, and only information noting the similarities at best.

The reason his Trophy outright omits any information about Red is that Sakurai didn't put Red in, and that's all there is to it. In fact, that should actually be removed from the regular Pokemon Trainer's trivia page. It's useless and non-factual. That's speculation at best.(considering Red was not literally put in, it doesn't work) HyperFalcon (talk) 03:54, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

I don't believe it is speculative to conclude that he is, for all intents and purposes, Red. The design is literally the same; there's not anyone else he could feasibly be. Pokémon Red/Blue and FireRed/LeafGreen don't specifically refer to him as Red either unless you call him that. Same goes for Link in any Zelda game. However, they're still referred to as Red and Link on their respective Wikis. There's no reason why we shouldn't do the same here. DoctorPain99 03:58, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
Is it clearly speculation by the fact they do not call him Red or refer to him as Red whatsoever. We can't conclude that because of simply a design and nothing else. Link is a bad example, as the character's default is named that and he actually is named Link in Smash. While many different styles of Link has officially appeared in Smash, he still is called it entirely based upon his style and that's it. Adult Link is referred to as Link, Young Link is the same, and Toon Link because of the style. Adult Link was the most famous version due to OOT, so he became the default Link in SSB. Child Link(as Sakurai refers to it for Young or Toon) was another important one, and with a specific name. Yes, him being Red is solely speculation entirely. If he was Red, why does Sakurai not call him that and why does his actual Trophy treat him like a Pokemon Trainer only? I get that he should have been him in Smash, but that doesn't make him it. You're making speculations based upon a design instead of the actual information in the games and website. Also, you're again wrong on the Link stuff. The actual games do talk about Link in-series, same with Zelda. His canon name is Link in both the Zelda series and in Smash Bros. And the problem with that is, he's named Link in Smash, not "Hero" or something like that. Pokemon Trainer does not have an official name beyond that in Smash. To call it official is blatant misinformation. It's unverified in all forms.HyperFalcon (talk) 04:06, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
You totally missed my point about Link, by the way. First of all, the default name of the Trainer in Red and FireRed is Red. Second, the default name of Link in most Zelda games isn't actually Link; it's just blank.
Third, and most important, you forgot that I said Link is referred to as Link on the Zelda Wiki even when he isn't referred to as Link unless specifically named as such. Pokémon Trainer isn't specifically called Red by Smash Bros., but is the same fucking thing as Red in the Pokémon games, so the article can refer to him as Red even though he isn't specifically called that by Smash. DoctorPain99 04:44, 29 July 2013 (EDT)
It's not so much the Zelda Wiki as Nintendo themselves saying it's Link. That's useless evidence too. The article cannot refer to him as Red unless it's under the idea of pure speculation. And no, it's not the same thing as the games. Because, as we know, in every Zelda game, the official Hero's name is Link. This is a stated fact by actual sources, not fan speculation. Brawl, the official website, Sakurai, and every official source refer to him as Pokemon Trainer specifically in Brawl. Unless you want to keep false information up, which I see why you want to, we have to remove the bad information. Also, we have a politeness rule, please calm down and don't swear at me. This is a civil conversation, not some unneeded bickering. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HyperFalcon (talkcontribs) {{{2}}}
You have continuously failed to provide evidence to demonstrate that this is false information. The only argument you have provided is that "It doesn't say he's Red". But he's still Red; the character is identical to Red in every way (and the trophy said he appeared in FR/LG, which basically confirms that he's Red and not some character that is only in SSB). Unless you actually have significant evidence to refute my claim and state why he is not Red, this discussion will continue to be pointless.
Also, nowhere on this Wiki does it say we have a politeness rule. DoctorPain99 04:55, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

The official game and all official information call him Pokemon Trainer and 100% refer to him as Pokemon Trainer. There is no official information that says he's Red. You have not provided one shred of evidence as proof he is Red at all. You provided a coincidental point that he looks like Red. We do have a rule. "Keep your comments polite and friendly. It's always best to be civil, even if things get heated." So please stop overreacting.
