ZEST is a Smash tournament held in the Netherlands.
It's held in Zoetermeer, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands. This is located next to Den Haag (The Hague).
ZEST stands for Zoetermeer Extreme Smash Tournament.
The Host
The official host of the Zest tournaments is Exalador (Stephan), with help from NGCXX (Coen). Zests are international 64-man tournaments (although most are dutch).
"Zests" so far
ZEST 1: September 30th - October 1st 2006
ZEST 2: April 28th 2007
ZEST 3: ZEST 3 has yet to come. It will likely be held on November 10th 2007.
Although the first ZEST was a 2-day tournament, other Zests are and most likely will be 1-day tournaments.
Location
It has always been (with the exception of the 2nd day of ZEST 1) at the same location:
De Patio
Buurtruimte "De Patio"
Gaardedreef 189
2723 AZ Zoetermeer
The Netherlands
The venue has a convenient location, with two grocery stores and a bakery within 5 minutes from the venue, as well as a bar inside the venue with food and drinks against pretty good prices.
Rules
The singles tournament consists of poules followed by a 32-man (24 players + 8 'byes') double elimination bracket.
The team tournament is done by double elimination.
If there is time left, a low-tier tournament will be played.
Rules for 1 vs 1
Poules and Double Elimination
► Best of 3
► Best of 5 from quarter finals
► Best of 7 for winner's finals.
► 4 Stock, 8 minutes Stocktime
If the timer runs out the player with the most stock left wins. In case of a stock tie the player with the lowest percentage wins (so the Sudden Death does not count in this case). In case of a percentage tie the Sudden Death is played.
Items are off.
Rules for teams
