YES PLEASE
This has been a pretty small rumor for awhile. Idk if it's past that stage yet. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 12:55, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Then we wait for it to get popular, and if not, we don't add it.  Aidan, the Wandering Space Warrior  13:05, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Seems to be gaining speed. Time to add the "Rumors about future games" section back? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 15:13, 28 January 2016 (EST)
It's been gaining enough press to warrant it. Wouldn't hurt. Miles (talk) 15:28, 28 January 2016 (EST)

Reconsidering the Lucina hoax.

Since I'm a genius and thus don't need to double check things, I did not notice this discussion that took place about half a year ago.

While I do support the majority of DatNuttyKid's proposal, the Lucina hoax should still be featured on the page.

I'll address the claims brought up on the original proposal. DatNuttyKid's claim that the Lucina hoax was not widespread is true, especially given how the image was debunked within hours of it being first posted; regardless, the implications of the leak are notable, akin to how Wikipedia had a page on Pat Venditte even though he had never played a major league game, due to his presence having modified the rules of baseball. As outlined in the now-removed text, it demonstrated how Brawl hacks were sometimes used to create hoaxed images. Now, this wasn't just some flash-in-the-pan realisation where people thought about it and forgot about it about two minutes later; cross-checking was actually done for quite a while after the image. I know at least one post on AllIsBrawl attempted a similar hoax with Roy a few months after the Lucina hoax (which I can't find, probably because the post was deleted, the user changed his or her name, or, more than likely, the site just turning into shit; I think I might have the image somewhere on my HDD, but we'll see), and during the original ESRB leaks, some users in the original threads and YouTube videos initially believed the leak to be a hoax by claiming Shulk's moveset was a hack of Ike's moveset in Brawl. As outlined later on this page, the Palutena rumor was also cross-checked with Brawl hacks.

Furthermore, the original author of the proposal also claimed that Omni's Rayman renders the Lucina hoax moot. Apples and oranges, Lucina hoax was Brawl-based and Rayman was...whatever the hell Artsy Omni used-based shenanigans. And this ignores the fact that when something is notable, it remains notable; if we're going to remove informationthat has been superseded, then why bother having articles on Gematsu leaks?

Anyways, I've said my piece, I'm off to kick Mega's arse in OJ.

Midgar Music Rumor

I realize it would have been better to bring this up before Midgar came out - Jesus, it's almost been one whole year - but I still think it's better to mention it later than never. This image popped up at least once or twice in my Facebook feed a few days or so before the December Direct; is it at least worth mentioning?  Aidan, the Thankful Dragon Warrior  20:25, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Final Fantasy's series symbol is different there... better than the "FF" it uses now. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   20:31, 7 November 2016 (EST)
Given that it never got any significant press, it probably doesn't qualify. Miles (talk) 20:35, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Smash for Switch additional info + Melee port

2016

So there's been a rumor going on since the past 24 hours regarding:

  • Additional information about Smash for the Nintendo Switch.
  • How the Switch is getting GameCube virtual consoles, and that one of them is Melee.

Sources are here and here.

Credible, or be patient about it? :| Hylia's Eye (talk) 22:01, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Think we should wait until the system comes out. Serpent   King 22:33, 8 December 2016 (EST)
While I'm not sure if it's credible for not, this rumor has attained a lot of attention. Twitter has blown up about it and multiple notable gaming and non-gaming news outlets have reported on it including IGN, Polygon, GoNintendo, Nintendo Insider, The Daily Star, GameSpot, Source Gaming, Eurogamer, and GameXplain. Since SSBWiki already has the "Smash for the NX" section, I don't see why we can't have this one. Pokebub (talk) 16:45, 10 December 2016 (EST)

Just going to make a change to the date; it was the 6th that the rumor was past. The 12th was when I read it (whoops!). :P Hylia's Eye (talk) 11:16, 27 December 2016 (EST2

2017

Hey, I have more information about the rumor! Apparently, the release dates for certain Nintendo Switch games (including Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch) was leaked online. More info here; please let me know ASAP!

Before this gets lost

I saw this pop up a few times in my Facebook feed recently. Thoughts?  Aidan, the Irish Dragon Warrior  20:49, 9 March 2017 (EST)

Seems like as-much guesswork. Reminds me of when the rumor of a Shovel Knight amiibo was taken as "confirmation" that he'd be in Smash, when it was just an amiibo for his own game. Given that it hasn't gotten a lot of press or proven anything decisive, I think we can skip covering it. Miles (talk) 20:53, 9 March 2017 (EST)
I wonder if it's a scrapped character or something. Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   20:58, 9 March 2017 (EST)
Saw it yet again, and I saw another site cover it as well. Any thoughts on its credibility now?  Aidan, the Irish Dragon Warrior  14:51, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
I'm not understanding this. If it is a Smash amiibo, why is the name "??????" if the other DLC characters had their names on there Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~   14:59, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
Because we don't know who it is. It's an unknown character set to be a Smash amiibo. We have no idea who it is; it could possibly hint at a Switch port akin to Mario Kart 8.  Aidan, the Irish Dragon Warrior  15:08, 14 March 2017 (EDT)
