Vitality started playing SSB when he was only 7 years old however he lost his SSB cartridge disabling him from continuing his Smash practicing. He never smashed competitively for 8 years with only some games for fun. Vitality enrolled at MAC which is where his smashing career started up again. MAC had a history of smashers with several TVs dedicated for smashing. Most of the people during that time are in the social group YouThree. Fosh started the smash community of MAC at the beginning of the year with a SSBM tournament. Vitality attended and he was amazed by the fast pace that Fosh and Alphicans were able to play at and decided to learn. Frio also a smasher did not have the same knowledge that Fosh and Alphicans had but he still was decent. Fosh hooked up SSBM every lunch hour where it became a common scene with several people watching in awe. Fosh later in the year was unable to organize his lunch smasheons which then Frio took over. Vitality being in the midst of things started out playing with Roy. He did not have any knowledge of advanced techniques and his progress was slow. Alphicans finally learning of the smash during lunch came to play and told Vitality of [1]. Vitality signed up on Smash Boards and absorbed the many techniques in smash including WaveDashing and SHFFL also watching the tricks that Neo had on YouTube. L-Canceling was his first technique that he was able to apply in his games. After many weeks playing with Roy Alphicans suggested Vitality (Jim) to change his main to Marth. Jim now a Marth player quickly became better in smash. His first tournament that he attended to was the Edmonton Tournament on Feb 16-17. He learned many things that day absorbing tips and combos from matches as well as getting a little bit of training from FalseFalco.

YouThree was his 2nd tournament he attended to now able to beat some competitors however he was still on the bottom of the foodchain. Fosh was nowhere to be seen and being Alphican's partner he teamed with Jim for Melee doubles. Alphicans teamed with Jim from then on. Jim became exceptionally better throughout the year in melee however he is one of the melee fanboys and does not put a lot of time into SSBB.
