Jarc got Super Smash Brothers 64 the day it came out and shared the enjoyable experiences with his friends that would later become his SSBM teammates. Along with his friends, he competed in a few minor SSB:64 tournaments in the area, mostely at La Ronde. When he and his friends learned that there was going to be a sequel on the Gamecube, they went hysterical. At that time, Jarc didn't have a Gamecube, so he could only play with his friends (wich he did almost every weekend) from 2002 to 2004. He still had no knowlege of advanced techniques.

In late 2005, while trying to find some SSBM videos, Jarc stumbled uppon SmashBoards, where he discovered the many advanced techniques he had not yet heard of. He also got a hold of one of the top Canadian smashers at the time, pkmvodka, who drove almost two hours to come play with Jarc. This is when Jarc finally saw the importance of wavedashing and L-cancelling and vowed to become as good as pkmvodka.

Later that year, Jarc went to his first tournament, No Mercy vs. the World, where his newly-acquired skills came in handy to defeat some players. Though he didn't get very far bracket-wise, he learned alot from that day and was able to meet Chesterr01, TestRider, Bamsoldier, Vwins and other very skilled smashers that would later on become his training partners.

Although he does not practice as intensely as he once did, when he does, it is always with top Canadian players and this was reflected particularly well going into 2007. The summer saw the TransCanada tournament take place, in which Jarc would defeat players from all over Canada including FalseFalco, RJM and Kage. He finished 9th overall.

Background

Jarc got Super Smash Brothers 64 the day it came out and shared the enjoyable experiences with his friends that would later become his SSBM teammates. Along with his friends, he competed in a few minor SSB:64 tournaments in the area, mostely at La Ronde. When he and his friends learned that there was going to be a sequel on the Gamecube, they went hysterical. At that time, Jarc didn't have a Gamecube, so he could only play with his friends (wich he did almost every weekend) from 2002 to 2004. He still had no knowledge of advanced techniques.

SmashBoards and Advanced Tactics

In late 2005, while trying to find some SSBM videos, Jarc stumbled uppon SmashBoards, where he discovered the many advanced techniques he had not yet heard of. He also got a hold of one of the top Canadian smashers at the time, pkmvodka, who drove almost two hours to come play with Jarc. This is when Jarc finally saw the importance of wavedashing and L-cancelling and vowed to become as good as pkmvodka.

Jarc with his dog, Cinnamon.

Later that year, Jarc went to his first tournament, No Mercy vs. the World, where his newly acquired skills came in handy to defeat some players. Though he didn't get very far bracket-wise, he learned a lot from that day and was able to meet Chesterr01, TestRider, Bamsoldier, Vwins and other very skilled smashers that would later on become his training partners.

Out-of-region competition

In late 2006, he finally went to his first American tournament in Connecticut. There, he witnessed KoreanDJ and PC Chris in action. He came back to Montreal with new knowledge of the game and used it to his advantage in the forthcoming tournament. His trip down to the United States made him an overall better player and it helped him get into the East Coast Canada power rankings, which had been his goal for quite some time.
