HugS is an American smasher and widely considered the best Samus player in the United States. He has been active in the scene for a long time, using a strong work ethic to make his way to the top. HugS takes the competitive Melee scene very seriously, employing a smart style to surprise opponents.

Once upon a time, HugS had to compete with Oro and Wes for the title of best Samus. The three went toe to toe, none of them pulling far ahead of the other. Since, Oro has retired and Wes has failed to place like he could in his prime. This left HugS as the premier Samus player in the United States.

However, HugS' glory comes not just by default, but from a rigorous Major League Gaming schedule where he qualified for the National Championships in Las Vegas for the 2006 season. HugS was surely the underdog at Nationals, where he was clearly the wild card apart from the other seven "superstar" qualifiers: KoreanDJ, Mew2King, PC Chris, Azen, Ken, Chu Dat, and Isai. He earned this wild card spot with a stellar performance at MLG Orlando where he burned through the loser's bracket after losing to Vidjogamer in the first round, taking down such players as Dope and PC Chris along the way. This performance earned him a nice write-up on MLGPro.com, and the respect of many smashers. He placed 2nd at Evo World 2007, he was narrowly defeated by Ken in the finals. HugS is currently ranked 4th on the SoCal Power Rankings.
