chesterr01 is a Canadian pro smasher living in his native Montréal, Québec following a two-year move to Ottawa, Ontario. Also known as "Chet," he is considered one of the top players in Canada and is known to main Fox, but also uses a variety of other characters such as Captain Falcon, Link and Mewtwo.

History

The Beginning

He started playing competitive smash in the summer of 2003. At his second tournament attendance, accompanied by Montréal smasher Durdley (known as DRG), he was brutally confronted to advanced techniques for the first time. chesterr01 was amazed by two players, Sony and Gino, who were accustomed to wavedashing and l-canceling early on. From that point on, he decided to get better at the game.

In December 2003, chesterr01 met Mystic Viper, which then introduced him to his now team partner and arch nemesis, TestRider, the best player on the island of Montréal at that time. They then started playing more often and from there, decided to form a team together. Taking one of Soul Calibur II's Raphael's quote, they formed the team "No Mercy!".

In spring 2004, chesterr01 met up with pkmvodka, who was then known for his skills in Homerun Contest and Break the Targets. pkmvodka rapidly evolved to be one of the most fearsome smashers in Canada. After a few meetings, they gradually became each others training partner. A bit after that, chesterr01 joined TestRider and pkmvodka to form the crew "No Mercy feat. pkmvodka".

In August 2005, chesterr01 went out for his first "out of state" tournament, in Toronto, Ontario. Accompanied by pkmvodka, they fought many veteran smashers known from the community like MetaKnight0, jv3x3 and sprocket. At that time, chesterr01 still played Dr. Mario. chesterr01 got 3rd place in that tournament, bested by [v3x3 in winners bracket and MetaKnight0 in losers, both as Fox. At that moment, chesterr01 realized how traveling and tournament presence is important to evolve. He also noticed that Québec Foxes were far behind in skill compared to the rest of the world, and then decided to become the best Fox in the country.

The Present

Since then, chesterr01 has appeared in a good deal of Canadian tournaments, placing at least 2nd in each of them, such as the Mississauga Tournament, No Mercy vs the World, Twilight of Smash, T7, and Smash 'till you drop.

In 2006, Fleur de Lis, a Team Arlington member and GAP model, came to Montréal and decided to pass one afternoon with pkmvodka, TestRider, and chesterr01. That day, chesterr01 was officially made honourary TA member, a status that he cherishes each and every day.

In July 2006, chesterr01 went to his first American tournament, Melee-FC6, accompanied by Jih, Vwins, BAM, TestRider, Fogel, Lanowen, and Acidile. He managed to catch the attention of a few people during his trip. Falling sick on the day before the last round of pools, he finished a disappointing 49th place.

In August 2006, chesterr01 went to OC2: Zero Challenge in California. He finished 17th out of 192 entrants, his last victim being Trevyn. After the tournament, Trevyn vowed to spill Canadian blood. Chesterr01 lost to Kei in winners bracket, and his fellow Yaoi friend RaseruCort in losers.
