Ryu punches diagonally downward in the air relatively quickly. An incredibly useful tool in Ryu's arsenal, this aerial attack offers numerous advantages. When used alone, its sweetspot acts as a rare diagonal meteor smash, though the hitbox to make this happen is rather small. As part of a combo, when used near the floor, it sets up the player for several potential follow-ups, most notably up tilt (tap or hold), up smash, and Shoryuken, each of which are usually difficult for the opponent to escape from.
