I believe that Ridley is a definite choice for SSB4. And this is the reasons:

• Ridley was in every Smash Bros game as a notable character(Intro,Background and Boss character).
• Sakurai mentioned about Ridley in SSBB as a playable character, but only refused to do it due to the time it would take to make the character's model correctly. A voting poll was made but Ridley "lost" to KingDedede, mostly due to DDD being originally planned for earlier Smash Bros as playable.
• Ridley is a Villain-which is what Smash Bros lacks in the department of, along with Metroid characters.
• Like Sonic the Hedgehog of Brawl, Ridley is strongly anticipated, winning 1st place on SSB4 character polls on major gaming sites and magazines. Take note MegaMan and Geno were candidates on this poll.

Yeah, Ridley's all but confirmed for SSB4. He is the only Metroid character available, and he would be a rather unique character due to being a slow heavyweight with wings and lots of projectiles. Mr. Anontalk 20:32, 15 December 2011 (EST)
