The Dedede Badge "Japanese デデデの時限スイッチ" is an item originating from the Subspace Emissary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It appears to be an adhesive golden badge with an imprint of King Dedede's face on it. The badges are used to revive the wearer of their trophy state, and activate after a certain period of time has passed.

King Dedede learned about Tabuu's motive, and about the attack that would turn everyone into their trophy states, the Off Waves, and created these badges so that the fighters would change back from trophies. They were placed on Luigi (whom he ambushed), Ness, and Zelda or Peach depending on which princess you saved from Petey Piranha (although it seems he intended to use the third one for himself, though he figured he'd just make another one), after stealing their trophies from Wario. After the princess was taken from King Dedede by Bowser in a surprise ambush, Kirby found the badge and swallowed it, so he gained the benefits of it as well when he was turned into a trophy in Subspace.

The Badge is most likely a story-driven equivalent of the extra lives that a player can give to a fallen ally.
