Nintendo Switch:
Game Title: | Opinion: | Extra Thoughts?! |
---|---|---|
Super Mario Odyssey | ![]() |
Favorite game of all time. |
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe | ![]() |
Better than the original, but way overpriced. |
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury | ![]() |
Better than the original, and Bowser's Fury was a blast. Another game built like that with maybe a little more content would be perfect! |
Super Mario 3D All-Stars | ![]() |
Internet's already ripped this collection a new one for its lack of bonus content or game tweaks, so I won't do that here. I mainly bought it since I'd never played Sunshine or OG 64 before, and while both games have their charm, they're held back by some significant flaws. I am interested in trying Galaxy without the motion controls, but it's not a priority, considering I already 100%'d the game and find it a little overrated. |
Super Mario Maker 2 | ![]() |
What the first game should've been. |
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | ![]() |
Better than the original, based on the revamped Battle Mode alone. |
Luigi's Mansion 3 | ![]() |
Best in the trilogy. |
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 | ![]() |
A shallow, but extremely addicting set of minigames. The Story Mode was pretty fun too, barring its lazy presentation as well as some odd decisions made. For instance, why couldn't I play as any character I wanted in each event, upon unlocking them? |
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle | ![]() |
Best. Crossover game. Ever. |
Paper Mario: The Origami King | ![]() |
A near-perfect middle ground between the older and newer styles, while also including some small improvements that I wish were in the early installments. |
Yoshi's Crafted World | ![]() |
I love the visuals, but the level-flipping concept was underplayed and the OST was horrendous. Plus, unlike Woolly World, there was no satisfactory reward for 100%ing the game. |
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze | ![]() |
The definitive version. |
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | ![]() |
Best in the series, and I can't wait for the sequel. |
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening | ![]() |
My first exposure to this game. Fun overall, but I didn't like the bloated amount of collectibles. Also, the dungeon builder was very half-baked. |
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity | ![]() |
Far superior to the original Hyrule Warriors, with a better story and more streamlined content, and the way it incorporates some of BotW's mechanics is ingenious. The postgame does get a little grindy and repetitive at times, though. Plus, I'm curious as to how BotW2 will acknowledge this game's plot, assuming it will. |
Kirby Star Allies | ![]() |
Pretty solid installment... after all the updates, that is. |
ARMS | ![]() |
Cool character designs, but aside from that, this new IP didn't hook me at all. |
Miitopia | ??? | Thoughts coming soon... |
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | ![]() |
Probably won't ever be surpassed by any future installment. |
Sonic Mania Plus | ![]() |
Only classic Sonic game I've ever beaten. |
Sonic Forces | ![]() |
Not perfect, but I find this game to be very underrated, what with its cheesy story, catchy soundtrack, and cool Avatar system. |
Team Sonic Racing | ![]() |
Cool concept for the gameplay, and the OST is phenomenal. But aside from that, this game has very little staying power to me. |
Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy | ![]() |
My first exposure to these games. They were competently made, but nothing amazing. |
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time | ![]() |
Cool graphics and level design, with some sharp writing to boot, but the completion process is way too bloated, and the difficulty would most likely be a turnoff for whose who are new to the series. If not for the infinite lives option, I probably wouldn't have reached the final level, and even the idea of just beating the game sounds incredibly daunting. |
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 | ![]() |
Wasn't able to beat any of these games, except for MM10, and that was only because of the Easy Mode. |
Mega Man 11 | ![]() |
Only the second Classic Mega Man game I ever beat. Modernizing the series instead of being constrained by nostalgia really pays off. |
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 | ![]() |
These games hold up way better than the Classic series in my eyes. Also, Rookie Hunter Mode makes X6 a lot more fun than fans say it is. X7 was the weakest, but still overstated in terms of how bad it actually is. |
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection | ![]() |
If you like to play video games mainly for the story, then you'll definitely love this series. I personally had to take a few breaks in between installments because of how similar the gameplay is. |
Lego The Incredibles | ![]() |
First and possibly only Lego game I ever played/bought. Once you've played one, you've played them all. |
Guacamelee! One-Two Punch Collection | ![]() |
Some of the best Metroidvanias out there, with some really awesome music. |
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair | ![]() |
A glimmer of hope for this burgeoning IP. Wouldn't say it's as good as the games it's inspired by, however. |
New Super Lucky's Tale | ![]() |
Nothing to encourage replayability, but it is fun while it lasts. |
A Hat in Time | ![]() |
Super Mario Sunshine done right! |
Bayonetta 1+2 | ![]() |
N/A |
Batman: The Telltale Series | ![]() |
Pretty interesting take on the Batman mythos, but it does have a few minor bugs and animation errors. |
Batman: The Enemy Within | ![]() |
An absolute blast. Need I say more? |
de Blob | ![]() |
The lack of motion controls makes this installment less awkward to control; if you haven't played the game before, get it on the Switch, not the Wii. |
de Blob 2 | ![]() |
As I said before, this sequel annihilates its predecessor, with level designs that are better built around the controls, as well as an overall greater amount of polish/fleshing-out. Plus, the option of using soundtracks from both games was a more than welcome touch. |
South Park: The Stick of Truth | ![]() |
Between the two games, this one has the better story. |
South Park: The Fractured But Whole | ![]() |
Inferior story, but the battle system is far better. |
