The sweet spot of a ledge is the furthest point from the edge at which a character can still grab the edge after a recovery move (usually up B). "Sweet spot" can also be used as a verb, i.e. "He sweet spotted the ledge." Players strive to sweet spot the edge when recovering to avoid being edge-guarded - a sweet spotting recovers too low to be hit by most ground attacks and is thus much safer than a character who comes above the ledge during his up B recovery (like Captain Falcon and Ganondorf). Certain characters can sweet spot easier than others, and some characters have trouble sweet spotting. Wolf is a common example, as he is known to have the worst sweet spot in his Up B. For the Up B to sweet spot, the attack must land precisely on a ledge in order to edge grab.
