Slime (スライム, Slime) is a common enemy and series mascot of the Dragon Quest series.

Character Description

Slimes are mostly likely the first monster players will come across in the Dragon Quest games. They are typically the weakest monster, and can be taken down with ease, due to them lacking any real dangerous abilities. Other variations of Slime exist, such as a She-Slime (which despite its name, the gender is still left ambiguous) and a Metal Slime. In later games, such as Dragon Quest IX, there are special Slimes (often times looking the exact same as a normal slime) that can merge into or stack onto other Slimes, creating new a new type of Slime such as a King Slime or a Slime Stack.

As the series progressed, Slimes started to grow more and more popular amongst fans, even to the point where multiple spin off games have been made such as Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (Suraimu Morimori Doragon Kuesuto 2: Daisensha to Shippo Dan スライムもりもりドラゴンクエスト2 大戦車としっぽ団). Slimes also start to gain their own personality and in some games are treated as companions and can even talk, complete with a verbal tic in English translations (Slimes often have goo related puns or words in their English dialouge; "gooman" instead of "human", "slime" instead of "time" or just saying "slurp" or "goo").

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

On June 11th, 2019, Hero from Dragon Quest XI (with Erdrick, Solo, and Eight appearing alongside as alternate costumes was revealed to be DLC. In his trailer and in gameplay, Slimes have appeared. The function of Slimes and to what extent they will appear is yet to be known, but it's possible that they will simply have a minor role.
