Krystal was originally conceived as the protagonist of a late [[Nintendo 64]] game by Rare called ''Dinosaur Planet''. This title would not come to be as originally envisioned, as Nintendo requested that Rare transform this game into a ''Star Fox'' title and move production to the [[Nintendo GameCube]] (likely as Rare was being approached by other publishers at the time and the game’s release date being the day before the studio was bought out by Microsoft).
