Pillaring is used a lot in high-level play, and for a good reason.  Pillaring can inflict heavy damage on [[fast faller|fast fallers]] [[Fox]], [[Falco]], and [[Captain Falcon]].  It can also be used to destroy [[shield|shields]], as the ADA's lag time is very short when L-canceled, and the shine comes out extremely quickly, restricting the opponent's [[grab]].
Pillaring is used a lot in high-level play, and for a good reason.  Pillaring can pressure an opponent in a shield, forcing them to roll out of it, which can be chased.  It is possible to be shield-grabbed, but it requires very good timing.
