::Not so sure about that. Look at the update notes: "Nintendo 3DS/XL systems will be compatible with amiibo functionality using a peripheral device scheduled to launch in 2015 and the software update that will follow". This implies that compatibility with the peripheral is not currently implemented and will be added in a future update. Also, the peripheral doesn't appear to physically connect to the 3DS (it uses infrared, I think?), so I doubt it would be automatically detected.
