On January 8, 2021, an anonymous user on 4chan [https://gamerant.com/super-smash-bros-ultimate-concert-leak-rumor-dlc-characters-pyra-mythra-crash-bandicoot-monster-hunter/ posted] a thread claiming that Nintendo had made plans to host a massive Super Smash Bros. live concert featuring a symphony orchestra sometime in 2022. The user claimed that the concert would be around 3 hours long, and is due to be held once the second Fighters Pass is complete.

The user included a tracklist of songs being considered for the concert including tracks referencing Fighters Pass Vol 2. characters such as {{SSBU|Sephiroth}} with "One-Winged Angel" from ''Final Fantasy VII''. Most notably, however, was the inclusion of the track "Counterattack" from ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'', which is listed immediately after "One-Winged Angel" on the list, suggesting that a character from ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'' would be announced as a playable character, which would eventually prove true following the reveal of {{SSBU|Pyra}} and {{SSBU|Mythra}}.
