If the article is made longer, then the number will be preceded by a + and will be green, and if the article is made shorter, then the number will be preceded by a - and will be red. If the edit added or removed 500 characters or more, then the number and + or - will be in bold. For example, <font color="Green">(+37)</font> means that the article is 37 characters longer than it was before the edit, and <font color="DarkRed">'''(-1397)'''</font> means that the article is 1397 characters shorter than it was before the edit.
