Because rollback works by undoing all of the last user's edits at a single click, if someone else edits the page before rollback is used, then the rollback link won't appear next to the vandal anymore, and this prevents it from working.

Next time you see a vandalised article, follow the procedures [[SW:RBACK|detailed here]]. It's mainly for rollbackers like myself, but other users can still use it to learn how to revert edits.
