User:Unnamed anon/Red (SSB6)
Red is a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. 6, He was officially revealed on TBA. He is the fourth character from Sega after Sonic, Bayonetta, and Joker.
Moveset[edit]
Most of Red's attacks involve him using his other flock members or the slingshot. The other flock members use their limbless designs from the games. Certain birds can randomly use multiple designs from their different game appearances; the different designs are all aesthetic.
- Jab: Red swings an ice block, then wood, then stone. Each one is stronger than the last
- Forward tilt: Red screams, which has a fast frame rate and good knockback (enough to KO reasonably early), but low damage. Based off of his attack from Angry Birds 2
- Up tilt: Red smugly points toward himself facing the camera while a golden sign saying "The Hero" spawns above himself. The sign deals a modest amount of damage and knockback before falling to the ground and disappearing. A reference to a scene in The Angry Birds Movie 2 where Red and Leonard make a truce but still show animosity toward each other.
- Down tilt: Red calls for some of his feathers, which will turn partially white and fly off of him, to attack diagonally downwards. Sends opponents at a good angle for combos. References his ability in the Red's Mighty Feathers episode of the original game.
- Dash attack: A pig will spawn in front of Red before he tackles it. Will randomly be either Ross from Bad Piggies, Corporal Pig, Foreman Pig, Chef Pig, or King Pig.
- Forward smash: Red shoots Terence from his slingshot, who lands quickly, dealing massive damage and knockback, and with a decent range, but with a lot of lag. Terence can be reflected, and has a 10% chance to spawn as his cousin Tony from Angry Birds Seasons, who looks mostly the same aside from his blue color. The change is purely visual.
- Up smash: Red slingshots a crate of TNT upward, which will briefly deploy a parachute before exploding. References the TNT drop power up in several games
- Down smash: Bubbles inflates from below Red, who deals a moderate amount of damage on both sides of Red. He then deflates, flying on both sides of Red and dealing damage again twice. He deals more damage behind Red.
- Neutral air: Red flails his limbs uncontrollably. Reminiscent of Blu's attack from Angry Birds Rio, and the fact that most birds in the Angry Birds movies are flightless.
- Forward air: Red swings in the air with his slingshot. Covers above and below himself as well, and can spike. Reminiscent of Luke Skywalker in Angry Birds Star Wars, who was modeled after Red.
- Up air: Red slingshots the Ice Bird from Angry Birds Space upward, who quickly explodes. While reeling the slingshot, Red dons his mask from Angry Birds Space.
- Down air: Red slingshots Silver, who loops downward, carrying Red with her for a stall-and-fall. She will randomly have her Angry Birds 2 or Angry Birds Reloaded, with equal chances for both designs. Similarly to Steve's down air, Red can use any input to let go of Silver.
- Back air: Red slingshots Hal behind himself, who immediately loops back before Red catches him. Hal will randomly use his designs that originated from Angry Birds Classic, Angry Birds Chrome, Angry Birds Go!, Angry Birds Friends or Angry Birds 2, with an equal chance for all five designs.
- Grab: Melody briefly sucks in the opponent. If the opponent gets close enough, Red will grab them in his slingshot. Has long reach but slow starting and end lag. Red's grab can uniquely neutralize projectiles similar to Rosalina's down special.
- Pummel: Red pecks the opponent.
- Forward throw: Melody spits the opponent forward.
- Up throw: Stella traps the opponent in a bubble and lifts them up slightly before she jumps up without the slingshot and slams the opponent upwards, ricocheting back down and causing a moderate amount of damage and knockback to opponents that were not grabbed.
- Down throw: Red slingshots the opponent into the ground, burying them, before slamming the slingshot's base into the ground directly on top of the opponent.
- Back throw: Red throws the opponent backwards before having Leonard shoot them with his snot three times before slingshotting a terrified Leonard toward the opponent, who explodes into snot if he makes contact. References Leonard's ability as a playable "bird" in Angry Birds 2.
- Neutral special: Red slingshots the Blues, who come out as three fast and long-range but weak projectiles. Reminiscent of the Blues' attack from the games.
- Side special: Red slingshots Chuck, who dashes forward with Red. Side special can be inputted again to let Chuck go.
- Up special: Red slingshots Matilda, who shoots her egg bomb below herself and propels herself and Red upward. Both Matilda and the egg deal a lot of damage and knockback, but with very small hitboxes. Up special can be inputted again to let go. Matilda will randomly have her current design that debuted in Angry Birds Toons, or a 20% chance of her classic design.
- Down special: Red slingshots Bomb, who acts similarly to Link's Remote Bomb.
- Final smash: Red slingshots a sardine tin, which has low knockback and damage. Regardless of if the sardine tin makes contact, the Mighty Eagle will rush forward, dealing extremely high knockback and damage.
Idle poses:
- Red facepalms himself
- Red takes a few deep breaths.
Taunts:
- Up taunt: Red pours himself an apple cider and drinks it. A reference to the ending of The Angry Birds Movie 2.
- Side taunt: Red closes his eyes and nearly screams before taking a deep breath and exhaling.
- Down taunt: Red pulls out a toy pig and punches it away.
Victory poses: Up: Red sits in a chair next to a nest of eggs, reading a book. Side: Red drives his kart from Angry Birds Go! toward the center and takes off his sunglasses. Down: Red brushes himself off while the primary flock of Chuck, Bomb, Matilda, Terence, the Blues, Hal (in his classic design), Bubbles, Stella, and Silver (in her Angry Birds 2 design) celebrate his victory.
Alternate costumes[edit]
All of Red's costumes change his colors to match a different member of his flock.
- Red: default
- Blue: based on The Blues (Jay, Jake, and Jim)
- Yellow: based on Chuck
- Black: based on Bomb
- White: based on Matilda
- Green: based on Hal
- Orange: based on Bubbles
- Pink: based on Stella
Trivia[edit]
- Red is the first character whose primary design stems from a film instead of a video game, as he is modeled after his design from The Angry Birds Movie, which has limbs.
- Red is the first character to initially be owned by a non-Japanese company before that company was bought by a Japanese one, in this case Sega. He is also the sixth character to be created outside of Japan, the first five being Diddy Kong, Dark Samus, King K. Rool, Banjo & Kazooie, and Steve.
- Prior to Sega's acquisition of Rovio in 2023, the Sonic the Hedgehog series has had two crossovers in 2014 with Angry Birds Epic, the first being Red appearing in the mobile game Sonic Dash wearing his knight's helmet from Angry Birds Epic, and the second being an event in Angry Birds Epic where the birds fight enemies from the Sonic series, with Sonic himself being a temporary playable character during the event. After the event ended, Chuck was given the Illusionist class, whose hat was modeled after Sonic and had most of Sonic's abilities from the event.
