Hornet is a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. 6. She was officially revealed on TBA.

Attributes[edit]

  • Hornet is a featherweight (as light as Squirtle) character with fast ground speed, fast air speed, a fast falling speed, and moderate jump height. She can wall jump, wall cling, and crawl; Hornet's crawl resembles her Scuttlebrace tool, though she still carries her needle.
  • Hornet has a fighter ability known as the Drifter's Cloak, where she can hold the jump button to significantly slow her falling speed, like Peach and Daisy. Unlike Peach, Hornet still falls rather than stopping completely, it activates after a small delay, and attacking (including Zair) cancels the Drifter’s Cloak. However, Hornet can use the Drifter’s Cloak indefinitely, and can reactivate it indefinitely.
  • Hornet's grab, the Clawline, has several unique properties. She will move a decent distance forward regardless of if her grab connects or not, and it can be used as a tether recovery or a Zair. Hornet's Zair also functions as a command grab.

Moveset[edit]

  • Hornet has a fighter ability known as the Drifter's Cloak, where she can hold the jump button to significantly slow her falling speed, like Peach and Daisy. Unlike Peach, Hornet still falls rather than stopping completely, it activates after a small delay, and attacking (including Zair) cancels the Drifter’s Cloak. However, Hornet can use the Drifter’s Cloak indefinitely, and can reactivate it indefinitely.
  • Jab: Wanderer Crest: 2 short range attacks, then a rapid jab reminiscent of Wanderer Crest's Needle Strike. Last hit is a jumping upwards slash reminiscent of Reaper Crest’s dash strike, though with a quick backflip afterwards to get her back on her feet.
  • Forward tilt: Hunter Crest : Has slightly longer range than her jab. Hornet can walk normally while using it, just like Steve, Mega Man, and Min Min.
  • Up tilt: Hunter Crest: Also like Steve, Hornet can walk while using up tilt.
  • Down tilt: Shaman Crest: Shots an energy wave projectile at a slightly slower rate than other tilts. Can also walk while using
  • Dash Attack: Hunter Crest Dash Strike: Hornet slides forward with her needle, and bounces off if she lands a hit.
  • Forward Smash: Hunter Crest/Beast Crest/Architect Crest: Hornet preforms one of three different needle strikes depending on the diagonal of her forward smash, like Little Mac, Peach, and Kazuya. A straight forward is Hunter Crest, two consecutive slashes. An upper diagonal is Beast Crest, where Hornet leaps forward and slashes with her bare hands. A lower diagonal is Architect Crest, a multi-hit drill attack that pushes Hornet slightly forward.
  • Up Smash: Reaper Crest Needle Strike: A single powerful upwards strike.
  • Down Smash: Witch Crest Needle Strike Two downward slashes in quick succession.
  • Neutral air : Thread Storm: Briefly stops Hornet from falling, but has mediocre frame rate. Can be held to increase the amount of frames the hitbox is active for, though doing so also increases the endlag. Hornet shouts "Hegale!"
  • Forward air: Hunter Crest: Similar to Forward tilt, but sends at a slightly different angle.
  • Back air: Sawtooth Circlet: Hornet spins backwards and slashes behind herself with her cloak. Like Lucina, Marth, and Jigglypuff, Hornet turns around after a back air. Hits both behind and in front of herself, with a larger range in the direction she turns around towards.
  • Up air: Hunter Crest: Similar to Up tilt.
  • Down air : Hunter Crest/Architect Crest/Wanderer Crest: A diagonal stall and fall. Can be charged to become the Architect Crest down strike instead, which is a multi hit. Both can be cancelled by doing another down air, which becomes a quick downward slash from Wanderer Crest that spikes at high percents. Just like her unique zair, if any of the three down airs hits, Hornet bounces up and regains her double jump. The Hunter and Architect down airs make Hornet shout "Shaw!"
  • Grab: Clawline: Hornet will move a decent distance forward regardless of if the grab connects or not, but it has high endlag compared to other grabs.
  • Grab Aerial: Clawline: Like the grounded grab, Hornet will move a decent distance forward, with slightly less endlag than the grounded version. Can be used as a tether recovery and a command grab. The command grab deals a very weak spike, and like Hornet’s down airs will bounce her up and restore her double jump.
  • Pummel: Beast Crest: Hornet slashes at the opponent with her hands, using Beast Crest attacks.
  • Forward throw: Straight Pin: Hornet throws the opponent forward and then a Straight Pin.
  • Back throw: Longpin: Hornet throws the opponent back and then a Longpin.
  • Up throw: Cogflied: Hornet summons two Cogflies to throw the opponent up.
  • Down throw: Delver's Drill: Hornet uses the Delver’s Drill on them, spinning in place .
  • Neutral special: Silkspear: A chargeable projectile; the uncharged version resembles her attack as a boss from Hollow Knight, while the charged version resembles the Silkspear she uses as a playable character in Silksong. Charging is very fast, but unlike other chargeable projectiles she cannot hold onto it for later. Hornet shouts "Adino!"
  • Side special: Swift Step/Sharpdart When uncharged as a tilt input, Hornet simply dashes forward on the ground or rolls forward in the air, doing minimal damage and no flinching, but with very little lag. When charged as a smash input, it is instead Sharpdart, which deals more damage and knockback but only goes slightly farther and has a bit more endlag. Neither put her into free fall.
  • Up special: Sting Shard/Silk Soar: A tether recovery at a near vertical angle that leaves behind a Sting Shard at the starting location. It goes about as high up as Byleth’s but with a smaller diagonal for less coverage. Like Byleth, hitting somebody brings Hornet up and spikes the opponent at higher percents. However, its hitbox is smaller than Byleth’s; it’s a bit finicky as a vertical recovery, which is intentional as Hornet’s side special and unique zair makes her horizontal recovery near-unparalleled. Does not put her into free fall. The Sting Shard explodes into 5 spike projectiles when an opponent gets close. The explosion deals more damage and knockback than the spikes. Hornet is immune to her own trap, but can attack her own trap to activate it early, allowing the spikes to hit opponents from farther than the explosion range. Traps last for 6 seconds if nobody interacts with them, and up to 2 can be placed down.
  • Down special: Cross Stitch/Sting Shard: A counterattack, leads into the flurry of four attacks Cross Stitch Hornet does in Silksong. If the counter frames go by with no attack to counter, Hornet leaves behind a Sting Shard, which acts identical to the one used in her up special, and the cap remains the same regardless of which move leaves a Sting Shard.
  • Final Smash: Bell Beast: Hornet calls for the Bell Beast, who she hops onto as the Beast dashes forward. No cutscene, acts like Ganondorf’s final smash.
  • Up taunt : Hornet claps two of Shakra’s throwing rings and shouts “Poshanka!”
  • Side taunt : Hornet’s taunt from Silksong, where she slings her needle forward and shouts “Garama!”
  • Down taunt: Hornet briefly plays the Needolin.

Victory poses[edit]

  • Hornet jumps onto a smash ball, yells “git gud”, and opens it, referencing The Hollow Knight boss fight.
  • Hornet hugs and pets the Bell Beast. This victory pose cannot play in team battles.
  • Hornet clawlines her way into frame and lands in a pose, similar to a cutscene in Hollow Knight.

Idle poses[edit]

  • Hornet looks behind herself.
  • Hornet stretches herself. Reminiscent of the Beast Crest taunt, but slowed down and without a shout.

Entrance[edit]

Hornet drops down from above and does her side taunt, reminiscent of her boss Entrance in Hollow Knight.

Songs[edit]

There are 23 songs from the Hollow Knight franchise, 11 of which are from the first game and 12 of which are from Silksong. 3 songs from the first game and 3 from Silksong are remixes.
