SmashWiki hosts a variety of flags, to be used in order to signal game localizations, price listings and provenience of smashers. In order to use a flag, use the template {{flag|}}.

  • Only use and upload flags of countries and autonomous territories. No states and provinces.
    • Please note that England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, although not independent, are considered countries in common and legal usage, as such an exception is afforded for them. Use their flags in UK/Ireland tournament pages and on Smasher articles; instead use the Union Jack national flag in more international contexts and as a language symbol for the games' PAL English localization. (potentially subject to change)
    • Note that Quebec's flag is only hosted to be used as a language symbol for the games' NTSC French localization. Do not use it for Smasher and tournament articles.
  • A composite flag of Canada, USA and Mexico is used to symbolize NTSC/North American regions as a whole. Similarly, the flag of Europe is used to symbolize Europe as a whole. Do not use these in Smasher and tournament articles.
  • To denote a Smasher, use their country of long term residence, even if they only have citizenship of a different country. Do not retroactively change it in tournament or power ranking articles should they move to a different country.
    • By extension, do not retroactively change flags in the event of a major territorial change (i.e. an internationally recognized declaration of independence or annexation by another country). Should a country or territory lose their autonomy, their flags would be kept on the wiki for archivial purposes.
